We (4 adults, two toddlers and a baby) spent two nights in Cow Cottage last weekend and had a fantastic time. The cottage has it's own garden complete with chickens, guinea pigs, sheep and goats and the girls had so much fun running around. The 3-bedroom house was basic but comfortable and we managed to cook a roast in the oven one night. Both days we were able to join the 4pm feeding of the animals and the kids loved feeding the calf from a bottle, milking the cow, feeding the sheep and sitting on the donkey. And the best bit.... jumping up and down in muddy puddles, of course!

this is a super delayed review.

We stayed last winter in 2013. Till now, my children tell me that that was the best part of the NSW holidays. This farmstay really let you go down to the dirt and stuff. And the children love it! Washing the pig, milking the cows, feeding the calves with milk, sheep and ducks w bread.. so fun! Some farmstays are so sterilized, this is the ultimate fun one!

We have now stayed here 3 times, and will be back again! Scott's tractor ride in the afternoon is so much fun. The kids (3 & 7 at last visit) have had a fabulous time each time we've been. We've stayed in the 1 bedroom cabins and the 3 bedroom cottage and would recommend both - depending on the size of your group/ family. Nelson Bay has lots to do locally.

Our last visit saw us not turn on the TV at all (4 nights) and the girls made 4 new friends from the surrounding cabins. A campfire with toasted marshmallows was lots of fun. Even though it rained this time, it didn't spoil things at all. The chooks and guinea pigs were popular, as was 'Bacon' the pig! Miss 3 didn't want to go home, and Miss 7 was sad to go, even though she thought she might be "too old" (never too old in my mind)!!

Remember your gumboots if it rains (although there are plenty of spares to borrow as well) and bring really old clothes for the tractor ride, especially if it's wet.

We have just had a wonderful week at Kookaburra Cottage - 3 families of 7 adults and 6 kids stayed in the homestead - what fun! Plenty of room for everyone to have their own space, heaps of toys and games for the kids and lots to keep the kids occupied. No TV and the hit of the holiday was roasting marshmellows over the camp fire - magic! Thanks Scott & Louise - you have an awesome setup.

We have just returned from probably our tenth stay at Kookaburra Cottage and once again had a wonderful time. This is a proper farm experience with feeding of the many animals, milking of the cows and being woken early by the roosters! Scott and Louise are perfect hosts. Our children are already asking about another visit - soon!

Having 4 y.o. birthday at the farm, the 3 kids,4, 2.5 and 1, all loved the animals, the openness feeling and the daily animal feeding time.
It's a great experience for our "City Kids" to get close to the animals.
The cottage we stay, well it's basic but functional. Don't expect cooking large meals thou, Brekkies are fine.
Two large beds are good. Some of the single beds or the bunkers are not so much.

I stayed in a 3 bedroom cottage with my friend and four children between us for 3 nights. The kids had a ball! Cottage was roomy and well equipped. Combustion fire and reverse cycle air con meant we were toasty warm. Kids were busy with the cottage's own chooks & guinea pigs. Feeding time and the tractor ride with Scott & Louise was lots of fun for the kids. Murray's brewery & winery made for a beautiful lunch. Nelson & Shoal bay were just a short drive away. Would definitely recommend a stay.
