Amazing modern hotel, perfect to break with day to day routines...
The hotel relaxing atmosphere combined with the endless and timefreezing Alentejo's landscapes made of this an unique experience...certainly to repeat in years to come.
Clean and spacious rooms, very well decorated! Good but slightly overpriced food...
We surely enjoyed and make the most out of our stay in Avis...

We needed a place to get away and relax for a few days and we found it! This is hands down one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in Alentejo region - a mixture of modern architecture with the unspoilt countryside.
It's right next to Avis, a small town where you can find a couple of good restaurantsnand a few places to hang out. The hotel also has a restaurant, a little bit pricey (average 20€ -25€ per person) but the food is really really delicious!
We stayed at Herdade da Cortesia for 3 nights. Everyone in the staff was very helpful since day one - As soon as we arrived one of the staff members took us to our room and explained the basic facilities/services of the hotel (I thought that was a nice touch...).
What I loved about the hotel - Great rooms with big bathrooms, NO BREAKFAST HOURS (finally a hotel that gets it!!!), the swimming pool area and the surroundings.
My only suggestion would be to improve the Wifi-Internet connection - it's free and you can connect in the lobby or in the room, but for some reason it was disconnecting every 10mins and then it wouldn't work (There was some error page saying there was "Too many connections"). The signal wasn't great by the pool either. Not a big problem but something worth having a look ;)
We will definitely come back if we have the chance, we really had a great time!
Perfect for a family vacations. Nice swimming pool bar service. The restaurant is good, but one has a few options just near the hotel with great typical Portuguese food. Free wifi in the lobby! I just loved and want to repeat!
Enjoyed the quality of a good service in the quiet nature! The staff is well prepared and willing to make each stay perfect. The restaurant presents an excellent menu where local products are cook with an international and exquisite flavour. Great atmosphere!
Just back from a long weekend sculling camp, based at this hotel. A perfect place... innovative architecture somehow feels totally at home in the lovely unspoilt countryside. Beautiful gardens lead down to the infinity pool, overlooking the lake. The gym down the hillside is possibly the most wonderful place I have ever worked out on an erg! Although very much a top-class hotel, the location is geared to the needs of athletes and rowers in particular. Great rooms, comfy beds and big bathrooms. Top notch service (rooms made up by the time breakfast is over). Tasty and healthy food at every mealtime, served in the stunning restaurant. We also enjoyed an excellent tasting from the local winery. Avis itself is a pretty little city about 10 mins away by bike... Not much happens there! Already looking forward to a return trip next year!
I stayed here in January as part of a sports training group. The location of the hotel is idyllic with great views, pleasing vistas and above all spacious and quiet. The layout and facilities of the hotel are excellent with tasteful and functional, well appointed rooms with lots of space and great views. In the mild winter evenings there is an atmospheric ambiance created by the lighting and open fire off the lobby which is such a great welcome back after the days activities.
For those there for activity and sport the opportunities on the lake are extensive and the brand new gym is world class.
Above all though it's the dedication and the total attentiveness of the staff led by owner / directors Luis and Pedro which sets this hotel apart from any I have stayed in.
