Me and my family were very impressed with this place. It was our first time up in tahoe and this was the perfect place to stay. The rooms are not very fancy, but they do have a littlr gas fireplace which is different. The highlight however is the balcony and it's view. Overlooks the lake with nothing in your way. Really enjoyed the scenery. Very relaxing. We went in december with plenty of snow on the ground and on the mountains which was very nice. I would imagine could also be a great place to stay during summertime.

We stayed in a one-bedroom flat (condo) which had lovely views of the snow-covered beach. The rooms aren't new but they're clean and spacious and the kitchen is functional. It was nice to have a bathtub, however small, after a hard day's ski! The shower was also good.

Only drawback was noise from the condo above - when there were young children staying there it sounded like a herd of elephants above our heads! However we were lucky in that it was empty most of the time.

Free wireless is good. Rooms were serviced every day: tidy kitchen, clean towels etc, which was lovely. There's hot chocolate in the foyer and unlimited coffee - if you can stomach American coffee!

The Lodge is perfectly placed for the free Heavenly shuttle bus (4 times per hour, not twice as we were told by Lodge staff; two buses an hour to the gondola and two to California base. Either is good to start your day's ski). It's also handy for buses to other resorts (eg Kirkwood) which stop just at the end of the street.

There's a good ski/board hire place about 100m away which is cheaper than the ones advertised in the Lodge, although you have to walk / drive there rather than having skis delivered to your room.

There are 3 small restaurants / cafes within walking distance (Indian, Mexican, Italian) but apart from those you need to eat in at night if you don't have a car. There's a good Safeway not far away. In winter the pavements (sidewalks) are snow-covered and the streets are not lit, so it's not practical to walk more than a few hundred metres. You can call a taxi but you need to know where you're going; you can't just stroll around til you find somewhere you fancy.

We chose this hotel for the price and the convenient winter location - a bus ride to heavenly from just outside and driveable to some of the other local ski areas (Sierra, Kirkwood, homewood the closest).

The main attraction of the lodge is the views of the lake which are spectacular, and available from every room - we sat on our bed (too cold for the balcony!) for ages watching the sun go down over the mountains. Looking along the lake it is really unusual to get such an amazing position right on the beach at any price, let alone a reasonable one.

The lodge doesn't claim to be a 5* resort - and accodingly the whole place feels more functional than luxurious. Our room was very spacious and had a full kitchen which was great as we didn't want to eat out all the time. Decor is a little dated, but I don't mind a bit of 70s kitsch so long as it's in good order and clean, which it was. Only real downside to the room for me was the walls which are quite thin. Our neighbours were quite quiet but I guess it could be a problem with younger children. The hot tub sits right on the beach and so have the same amazing views - we spent literally hours in there after skiing. They also include a simple breakfast of self serve coffee, juice and pastries which was fine for us.

Location is good if you don't mind a 20 minute walk to the centre of town (or frequent free ski buses). I wouldn't recommend staying here without a car however (or anywhere on the lake really) as so much of the beautiful skiing/scenery is a drive away.

We bumped into the manager Pat in the local wine bar and he seems really commited to making the most of the hotel and ensuring people have a great holiday. Overall I can really recommend this place and I will definitely come back in the future - hopefully in the summer season.

The view is great, but the rooms are very hit or miss. We stayed in a room on the 4th floor near the elevator. The shower door wouldn't close and the elevator was very loud at night. Also, the rooms are just plain run down. This is in the main part of the hotel, "the lodge." BTW, this was my second time there, and the 1st time the room was not as bad...

Our friends stayed in a condo and it was very nice, but I think they are privately owned, so it's probably hit or miss whether or not they are nice or not. Seriously, I would have saved $50 and given up the view and just stayed in the Howard Johnson that's in the same parking lot.

We are sorry that you did not enjoy your room as much during your stay with us. We have been listening and the good news is that we are embarking on a project to upgrade all of our hotel rooms. The project is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of June. We are putting in new carpet, new wall treatments, bedding, and a fresh new mountain feel. In the meantime, we always endeavor to keep our rooms clean and comfortable and priced at a great value. Our condominiums are all recently upgraded and we are proud of every one of them. I hope you will come back and stay with us again next time you are in Lake Tahoe!

My wife and I traveled to South Lake Tahoe to celebrate our 30th Wedding anniversary and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. We had the Corner View Room on the third floor and it offered an awesome view of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The room/kitchen was spacious, clean and the fireplace made for a very cozy atmosphere. An added plus was that we got to enjoy the first snow fall of the year. Check-in/check-out was fast and the employees were very friendly. When the snow fell, they were quick to clear the parking lot. Even though there is not a restaurant on the premises, there were some very close by within walking distance.
Unfortunately, because of the snowfall, we were not able to experience the outdoor amenities such as the beach or pool.
It may not be a "new" facility, and I can't speak for the other rooms within the hotel, but the corner view room was the perfect pick for our little two night romantic getaway. And if I had to offer any criticism at all, the only one that I can think of is that, in comparison to the large room & kitchen, the bathroom was extremely small. But it serves the purpose and did not really take away from the overall experience we had.
All in all, we were very pleased with our room & stay and would definately stay there again.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us for your 30th anniversary! We are happy that you enjoyed your stay and took the time to share your experience with others. The bathrooms are a bit small in the hotel rooms but unfortunately a remodel is out of the question right now. Hopefully the spacious room and amazing view will make up for that!
