“Awesome Lakefront family retreat”
Reviewed 10 September 2009

We just got back from The Lakeshore Lodge and Spa in Tahoe. It was the best old fashioned kid friendly getaway we have had in a long time. The 2 bedroom condo with loft that we rented was great: stunning Lakefront (sunset) view, sandy beach, heated pool & jacuzzi, great kitchen and daily maid service. It was plenty of room for us and our 3 kids and nanny. My sister was in the lodge and every room has a kitchen and a fireplace as well a great water views. We really enjoyed the free live music they had on the beach twice in the week we stayed. We barbecued (they provide built in bbq's right on the sand by picnic tables) and we listened to great music as the sun went down.

There are places to rent kayaks and paddle-boards right down the beach and tons of restaurants/markets in walking distance. The staff was friendly and helpful and to boot they even have an onsite spa where I got a great massage. And on top of that all, not a mosquitos in sight!!!

We are so glad that you and your family enjoyed your stay with us. The music on the beach this summer was a big hit and we hope to continue to offer that again next summer. Please note that not all of the Lodge rooms offer kitchens. We offer a variety of room types in the lodge some with, and some without kitchens. Our day spa Elements is fabulous and I'm glad you had a chance to enjoy this wonderful amenity.

We stayed here for three nights during our honeymoon tour around California. Not knowing the area, it was a perfect choice to relax by the beautiful lake. The hotel is located directly on the beach allowing you to walk straight from the room, to the pool and spa and then onto the beach. Good choice of watersports and bistro two minutes walk (highly recommended). The rooms were very spacious with balconies offering a great view of the lake. Rooms slightly outdated (but we have found this is the case in most of the USA). Only weakness was the very poor sound insulation between rooms, however we did have a room which was interjoining to another room. Would recommend and would stay here again.

They must not be investing too much into facility upkeep. The location is nice. You're on the waters edge. But that's the only positive. It's old and worn out. Old furniture, old beds as hard as a rock. A couch that should have changed years ago. The kitchen lacks utensils and cookware. If you don't bring these plan on eating out a lot. No a/c and in the summer you need it sometimes. Floors creak and feel as though you could put your foot through the subfloor. Exterior paint peeling. Spa and pool full of sand. and on and on. There's no place like home. They should hand out "I survived Tahoe" shirts as you check out. I'm not kidding. Don't stay here. Do not make the same mistake we did. Spend your hard earned dollars elsewhere. please

Not worth the money we paid. Common area floors were always dirty. Every day of our four day stay had to step around a supply cart that was left in the hallway near the exit doorway. Floors creaked all over our room. Every time someone closed a door nearby our door would almost explode off its hinges, making us jump everytime it happened. Shower head a joke. Installed about 8 ft up on the wall. Unable to reach to adjust. Just a trickle of water comes out. Shower door jumped off its track and my husband had to readjust them. Continental breakfast bad. Did not walk barefoot on the carpet as feet turned black. We stayed as were locked into this reservation. But NEVER again.

So, this was an anniversary trip and I was looking for something special right on the lake and preferably with a lake view. There are not many options around south shore for this combination and Lakeshore had an open room at the right price. They have a variety of rooms, we were in a hotel style room. The room was what you would expect from classic Lake Tahoe... a very small shower/toilet room, an in room sink, and a small tv. The bed was ok, and there was a gas fireplace in the room. Note, there is no air conditioning, so on a hot summer Tahoe day I imagine the room could get a bit stuffy. There was a big sliding glass door off our room onto a small deck with a couple chairs. It was really nice. The location is great - but you will have to drive if you want to gamble. All things considered, if you are looking for lakeside with a lake view this place would be hard to beat.

My wife booked us here at the lodge, and with no prior knowledge of Tahoe at all, this couldn't have been a better pick. When you drive up to the front office, you wonder what you got yourself into, but as soon as you open the door to your room, all your worries melt away. Yes...if you plan on spending all day in your bathroom, then you will be unhappy, but if you want to drink wine on your patio/balcony mere feet from the sand and lake then you are in the right place. The staff is super attentive, and the pool area and hot tub are nice too. This place is located near everything you would need, and you can start your drive around the lake right from here. Definitely recommend this place!!

Yes what everyone says about the hotel being old and unhip is true. But it was clean with good service and the location can't be beat. All the rooms are right on the beach, which is very hard to find in Lake Tahoe (yes, many hotels have a view, but a balcony/patio right on the beach you won't find). We could see both water and mountains from our room and could step right onto the beach and into the water. Nice walk along the beach or the main drag to get to the Heavenly shops/lift. There was a nice pool, volleyball court, and grills. Also had a good and affordable massage. A great summertime hotel for singles, couples, or families.
