We stayed in the 2 queen size bed suite. It was very spacious and was well worth the money we paid for it. It had a kitchen and a small living room as well as a dining table.
The service was very good and they responded in a few minutes when we said that the water in the toilet doesn't flush.

The only bad thing I can say about the place, is that the breakfast lounge was too small to accommodate all the hotel guests. Many had to wait for a few minutes before they could sit down and eat. Others just ate standing up. There were no big tables that could fit more than 4-5 people, and there was only 1 high chair, so if you came second you just had to hold your baby in your lap. Also they say that the breakfast time is 7am-10:30am but when we arrived at 9:30am lots of food which was there at 8am was gone with no replacement.
other than that the food was OK.

Room Tip: Take the second floor. you can hear every step if you're on the ground level.

This hotel is perfectly located on the main boulevard in S Lake Tahoe. The rooms, however, are set back from the highway to minimize traffic noise. The nicest thing about the property is that it is shaded by loads of huge redwood trees...The staff is friendly and helpful.Walk to Heavenly lift or the casinos.Convenience stores, gas and restaurants all right there.Rooms are larger than other HIEs we have stayed in.The breakfast is standard HIE fare.Nice location, decent rooms, friendly staff. There is a heated pool, two jacuzzis and a sauna as well.Amidst all of the many lodging choices in Lake Tahoe this one does NOT stand out as a 'five star' but it certainly served our purposes. If you desire perfection, stay at the Marriott at the Heavenly ski lift complex...and pay through the nose.

If you are going to stay in the Lake Tahoe area I would recommend the Holiday Inn in South Lake Tahoe, California. It is in a nice area on the lake, rustic, & only 3 or 4 blocks from the Nevada border if you wish to gamble. On the Nevada side the hotels are casino's and it is a little noisier there. You are also within walking distance to everything from shopping to dining.

Room Tip: There is also a , outdoor swimming pool, indoor hot tub, laundry, & breakfast. It was a nice peaceful setting when we stayed here in May 2012.

We had a choice of rooms. Upstairs close to the lobby, or across the parking lot on the ground floor behind the pool. We chose upstairs room 421. And we were very pleased. A large room with a Bay Window. A table and chairs to sit at. Very comfortable King Size bed and comfortable pillows. Large Flat screen TV and Wifi. As we were on the top floor the celing was high with whitewashed timber support. The closet was a good size. There was a large tiled bathroom with large white fluffy towels. Very friendly reception, good breakfast and free parking.
There was a little park next to the hotel. And there was a nice swimming pool amongst the trees. We did not use it so I do not know if it was heated. All in all, we really like this little place and would highly recommend it for location and value.
One down thing which is certainly not the hotel's fault.... Our plan here was to ride the gondola up to Heavenly which is only a block away. We were there in May. And we checked ALL the Internet sites beforehand which told us it was now open year round but no passengers were allowed on after 4:30PM. So we walked to the Gondola. Closed. Not even a soul there. Big sign that said 'closed for the season.' How do they get away with giving false information? So it was a wasted stop for us.
But we really like The Holiday Inn Express.

Room Tip: Ask for differences and options. We really like upstairs 421.

My husband and I spent one night at this hotel on our way to Yosemite. (5/30/2012) The location was perfect for us. The heavenly village shops and casinos were walking distance away. We had a good nights sleep. The bed was comfortable and the place was quiet. The rooms are in several different buildings some of which are set back in the trees. The room was very clean and well maintained. The bathroom seemed fairly new. The decorating was dated but still pleasant. The view from the room wasn't too good. There is a small pool and a small outdoor hot tub and a larger indoor hot tub which we didn't use.I loved the big flat screen tv. The breakfast was ok, the usual stuff. The coffee was good.
Given the quality of the room, the location and price it was a good value. The Marriott grand residence was only about $15-20 more but you have to pay $27/per night for parking. If I were staying longer I might have stayed there but I am glad we stayed here for the night.

The front desk service was very good.

Tip- fish tacos at Baja Fresh in heavenly village were excellent and only about $3.50/ each.
