Got a Groupon for this stay, so we got great value for our 4-da stay. While general establishment is visibly old and the rooms could do with a bit of refurbishment, it was clean and well-maintained, so if you're not looking for something fancy, you'll have a comfortable stay. The staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast selection is rather small, so stock up on your own supplies if you need something heartier - there is a supermarket just minutes away.

I liked the location, a 7-minute walk from the Heavenly Village cluster of eateries and shops, 10-minute walk from the casinos on the Nevada side (I don't gamble but ate there a couple of times), and 10-12 minute walk from the Van Sickle Bi-State Park trailhead.

Big Pines Mountain House of Tahoe is a small 60 room motel about a block south of Harvey's Casino.

The motel is all-wood with covered walkways to the rooms. The property looks like it was build in the late 60s or early 70s and the rooms are large enough for 2 queen beds, a small table, dresser, and a microwave and mini-fridge. there is also a small closet to hang you clothes and a tiny bathroom. The electrical system is not new and there are only 3 electric outlets to use, but you have to share them with the fridge, TV, microwave, lamp, and clock. There are no data ports or charging stations in the rooms, so bring a charger.

The rooms are relatively quiet and the beds are firm. Linens are very soft and comfortable.

Breakfast consists of 2 type of cereal, orange colored water, and either bagels, or English muffins. There is also a small pool, gas fire pit, and a couple of gas grills for cooking on the property.

Guest privileged at the motel include free access to the beach about 1/4-1/3 mile from the motel. There are many restaurants close by as well as a grocery store within walking distance from the property.

For a no-frills room, this is a very good property for couple or families on a budget.

Room Tip: Most rooms on the bottom floor have air conditioners.

Hi Tehmina,

Thanks for your business and support. We do provide English muffins during our breakfast, perhaps we should place them in a different area of the breakfast.

This is a typical 2-star quality hotel and it's way overpriced for what you get. The rooms are of average size but poor quality. The pool is extremely small with horrible looking artificial green turf and an ugly fence surrounding it, located in the parking lot. The continental breakfast was terrible. There was no coffee. The orange juice must have been sitting out all night because it was warm. The only thing worth eating was cold cereal. On the positive side, the hotel is located just 2 blocks from the ski lift. They also provide you with a free pass to a private beach in summer.

What more could one want...a great location in the heart of South Lake Tahoe where the casinos, gondola, dining, shopping and beaches are all within walking distance.

And the prices are very reasonable...breakfast included, pool, ample parking and maid service. some rooms with fireplaces and a kitchen.

A great place if you are a young person or young family with children on a tight budget. But if you are an older person who can afford more, than there are other places to stay that are more comfortable, especially if you are a senior person or couple.

Unless...you consider a breakfast of english muffins, a pot of oatmeal, peanut butter, jam, raisins, and cinnamon, with hot water, tea and coffee a wonderful breakfast offering. At least that was the offering when I arrived for breakfast at 10:00 Am

Oh...it is also Ok ion you don't mind rooms that are worn out from use, with cob webs hanging from the ceiling, dirty baseboards, and I had a full kitchen but a filthy carpet.

Sure the bedding was clean, and the fresh towels were an assortment off plush and almost lacking pile.

Almost forgot to mention to bring your ear plugs or you will automatically become part of the party or conversation late at night that penetrates the paper thin walls.

A great place if one is on a budget or you are a young person and the youth hostile next door is full.

Room Tip: There are rooms with a full kitchen if needed. But not very well appointed with dishes,
