This was our second stay at a Marriott Vacation Club site in the past 14 months. Staffing is polite and professional. The room was recently updated, and as we have come to expect, clean and well appointed. Plenty of places to eat or shop located on the property or nearby. We really like the range of activities offered by the resort. We were able to choose activities ranging from sushi making to fly fishing. Over all a great place to stay!

My friends and I went away for a girlfriends weekend for a comedy show and just to enjoy the pristine views of the lake. Our room was upgraded since we are Marriott's Premier Platinum members and we got an amazing view of the lift area and it was like a Christmas card. The staff were excellent and I would definitely stay again. Rooms at the Marriott are always clean, fresh smelling and I have had such a pleasant experience at most of their properties around the globe. Such a treat to have a nice experience close to home as well!

Room Tip: High up is always a good thing as the view improves with height. Also, corner rooms are always roomi...

We arrived from SF (family of 6 with 2 teenagers and a 4 year old) at 10pm, only to be told that no food was available in the hotel or in the area as it was too late. So we walked to a bar across in Nevada, where teenagers are not allowed of course, and got a take away. A bit of a disappointing start, but the next day it got better.
The accommodation is average, we had adjoining rooms with living area and a fully equipped kitchen, which was good because we did loads of laundry in the washer dryer!(we were on a long US trip) Basic toiletries are provided, as are basic tea and coffee supplies. TVs in every room.
The pool was great with several hot jacuzzis around it, this was really the best part! And the view around it was breath taking.
The location of the lodge is excellent, right next to the cable car which goes up the mountain, and in the main shopping district. It was a short drive to emerald bay and various vista points. Overall, worth it if you can organise your food and arrival etc. in Tahoe, and be aware that its a sleepy place after ten pm! Its a great location from which to drive around to attractions, but its in the middle of a bustling shopping and commercial area, so not exactly a mountain get away!

Great location, very nice staff and hotel. Pool was lots of fun for the kids. Concierge staff was very helpful. We were staying on a combination of points and cash and as a result we faced the prospect of having to switch rooms per Marriott's policy. Fortunately, the hotel staff was proactive and adjusted our reservation so we could avoid the switch. Negative on the rooms was that one of our bedrooms room had an annoying smell. Housekeeping tried to deal with it, but it kept coming back Received a parking credit in some consideration, but it was a problem.

Front desk mgr. Andrew Jansen, front desk associate Joseph, and bell boys Bryce and Rambo are employees that the Marriott Corp. should very proud to have in their employ. These folks are living proof that ' hospitality services " are not dead but are alive and well at the Marriott Timber Lodge. And I will be spreading the word to my fellow traveling buddies, that when i Tahoe, this where to stay. The place is so chocked full of neat and cool things to do (like a gondola ride in the summer!) that you would be hard pressed to find another playground like this one. Smack dab in the middle of "everything" that is South Tahoe the Lodge is a focal point that you may easily walk to most of the attractions in the area. My room was immaculate, all of the staff were helpful and full of smiles. And if you talk to some of them you will find out that they love the area and their jobs. Wow. You can't lose staying here. Go.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on a high floor and windows not facing the pool.

Have stayed at Timber Lodge 3 or 4 times in the last three years. Great place, although it is hard to get a 2BR unit when exchanging, even from one Marriott to another. However, we have bought two units here so now we won't have a problem. Great location and in the center of everything. Easy walk to the beach, hiking trails, casinos, shopping and dining. The lodge has daily activities such as hiking, biking, wine tasting, BBQ's around the pool, and much more. Everyone is very helpful and always have a smile and greeting for guests. Rooms are fantastic ... Stayed on the 4th floor overlooking the gondola this year and then came back and stayed on the 5th floor. I loved that room as the ceiling were dormered and the bedroom had a little sitting area with a chair and it overlooked the pool. However, it only had one sink in the bathroom, but I would still request the 5th floor in the future.
