This was our first trip to Lake Tahoe and we could not have picked a better hotel. This was beautiful, clean and in the middle of everything. Our one-bedroom unit was large and with a full kitchen we could have stayed a lot longer than our two nights. The staff was friendly and helpful and the concierge had great suggestions on how to get the most out of our time. We took the gondola to the top of Heavenly Mountain by going just a few steps from the lobby. The views were magnificent. Since the lodge is just about on the state line, a short walk brought you to the casinos. The little "Heavenly Village" had everything you could want within a few minutes walk. If we go back to Lake Tahoe we will definitely stay here..

We recently stayed for a week (2 families) at Marriott's Timber Lodge. We are Marriott timeshare owners, so have stayed in a number of Marriott properties. I was disappointed in the unit in several ways. Several of the appliances appeared to be "bottom of the line". The soap dispenser in the dishwasher didn't open, so we ended up just handwashing our dishes. The washing machine was so loud (banging noise - we hadn't overloaded), I had to leave the unit while it was going. The air conditioning unit had a strong mildew odor, so we turned it off and just left windows open. At other Marriott properties we've been to, they provide a mid-week light cleaning and linen change if requested, and we requested, but never received. On a positive note, the power went out (due to thunder storm) one afternoon/evening, and the staff were very helpful and provided us with a flashlight to use.

This Marriott property is a great location for families in the heart of South Lake Tahoe. It's near all the key activities and even has it's own beach. The Gondola ride runs right next door and the shops are also next door. It has valet parking and it's own beach. The small suite we used for one night was very nice and comfortable. The hotel was so busy because it is the peak season for summer vacation that it took longer than expected to check-in or valet park.

We like it better than a casino hotel because it is quieter, but during peak season it's difficult to get the nicer hotels at a reasonable rate, so book early.

We have been traveling to South Lake Tahoe the last week of July through the first of August for the past 4 years and love the weather in Tahoe at that time of year. We also love staying right in the heart of things and the Timber Lodge is right is Heavenly Village. We had 4 adult children with us who love the night life of the village: restaurants, outdoor bars with fire pits, bands, movie theater to just name a few. My husband and I loved being out by the pool which was recently redone and includes wonderful chaise lounges, lots of umbrellas, 2 fire pits, corn-hole game and a small pool bar where you could get refreshments of any type. They increased the number of gas barbeques to 11 so there was never a time we couldn't find one to use. To reduce our food costs I cooked breakfast every morning and made dinner every night, feeding 6 people eating out can get pricey so having the facilities within our 2 bedroom unit was great. We used the activity services of the hotel to book a kayaking tour for all six of us. It was cheaper than booking on our own which was a nice service offered. The Heavenly Gondolas run right outside the resort which is so much fun to watch and a fantastic activity to do. When staying in South Lake Tahoe the Timber Lodge is my only choice stay.

Room Tip: Definitely ask to have a room overlooking the pool. If the room overlooks Heavenly Village it can b...

Lake Tahoe is a jewel. South Lake Tahoe has been going through a rebirth and Timber Lodge is a great example. The room was spacious and comfortable - lodge theme. The service was great and the amenities were fit for the entire family. After a long day at the lake, it was nice to have a great pool area for the kids to continue on with the day. They had several activities planned for kids and families. Surrounding the resort are several great bars, restaurants and 100 yards away from the Nevada side - casinos. Repeat customers for sure!

Room Tip: Elevators are in use all night (guests returning from casinos), so any room further down the halls a...

A nice Hotel and well worth staying at.
Nice Pool area with new BBQs all around.
Nice activities for every age group most of the day.
Seems absolutely packed with people - they must be booking every possible room every day through the summer.
Called ahead asking for a specific room from previous years and told it was impossible even though we are owners and gold members of Marriotts Hotel chain.
Kids banging on the walls all night long next door - called security three nights in a row - bummer.
We will surely return the following summer - hope security steps up their work - perhaps just too many people are stuffed into these buildings.

Room Tip: Ask if unsupervised children have a room next to yours. No parent stayed with the kids that drove u...

This has got to be one of the better places to stay in Tahoe. Lots of Motel 6 or America’s Best Value hotels here. For a better experience (and you will indeed pay a higher price), we recommend this place. Front desk very professional, well-trained. Down to earth. Valet efficient. Beautiful pool. And the hotel is very nice – a great location here in the south shore.

Room Tip: Not all fold out sofas are the same size. Some are queen and some are double. Heads up when you book...
