Gorgeous junior suite, views, food and service.
I recommend Tuscany in the autumn, if you have a sunny day, open the roof of the convertible, drive to the old city of Lucca and eat in an historical osteria.

We stayed here for three days on our way to Rome from Lago Maggiore. The property was recently added to the Marriott portfolio, so we used our points for the stay. Unfortunately, the weather was rainy during our entire stay...but the hotel made up for it with its spa and amenities. The entire staff was extremely professional and very friendly, especially Antonia. I let her practice her English while she was patient with my Italian. The bar staff was wonderful and very friendly and the breakfast service was exceptional. This is a great place to stay, but you mast have a car to get anywhere. Speaking of cars, if you are arriving from the north avoid taking the SS445...that route will test your clutch leg to its max. Next time we'll go direct to Lucca and then up to the Barga area.

A lovely place in a remote location in the hillsides of Tuscany. The hotel, spa and pool area is very nice. The rooms interior is very nice and the beds very comfortable. The restaurant is suprisingly bad.Its not really bad but in comparisment to the rest a clear dissapointment. I can really recommend to spend some relaxing days here but plan to eat somewhere else.

We stayed at the Renaissance Tuscany for 5 nights. Wonderful experience and can't wait to go back. Our accommodations were great, and the staff was wonderful and friendly, especially Antonia, Maria and Maria Pia. We arrived the day before a freak storm that washed out some roads, and caused some flooding in the area. The staff carried on as usual, and even though we lost tv, telephone and wifi, they allowed us to use computers behind the desk to keep up with the world. They really stayed very professional, considering the circumstances. I certainly would recommend this hotel for beautiful views and to enjoy Barga, Lucca, and surrounding areas. Since we ate dinner at the hotel every night, I would have liked a more extensive menu for variety.

Room Tip: Ask for the updated rooms in the main building with a view.

We spent one night at this beautiful hotel nestled in the Tuscan hills. We booked two rooms and requested that they be adjoining rooms as we had young children. We were very lucky and were upgraded to a superior corner room with balcony overlooking the stunning countryside. As we were only spending one night, I was reluctant to leave this luxurious room at all. All furniture, fittings and linens were top quality. Even the bathroom even had french doors opening up on to the balcony allowing you to enjoy the view whilst soaking in the bath. We had dinner at the fine dining restaurant and the food and wine was superb. Outdoor pool was actually very cold even in August so the kids opted for the indoor pool. Car is definately recommended as you are fairly isolated.
This is a top quality Renaissance, easily comparible to the JW Marriotts and I would definately stay here again!

If you want to escape the big city (Florence) and you can get a rental car, you will enjoy the experience at this resort. The place is located on the side of a big hill and you might wonder what your in for, but my wife and I thought it was the best hotel during our Italy vacation. Although not at the top of most Italy vacation locations, we really enjoyed the city's of Barga and Lucca, which were easily reachable for the resort. Also your are in Wine country, which didn't matter to us.

Room Tip: Don't panic when starting up the windy narrow road up to the hotel

We arrived the day after one of the worst storms in Tuscany and as such driving up the narrow paths to the hotel were more hair-raising than usual. The hotel itself was lovely, small rooms but most with a beautiful view of the Tuscan hills. The swimming pool was very nicely heated (it felt like a bath it was so hot!) and the sauna and steam room were of a good quality. Staff were helpful and able to converse in English. My only suggestion would be to increase the number of dishes served in the restaurant. We were stranded there for several days and would've liked a greater variety

Room Tip: Ask for mountain view rooms. Rooms away from the main building are quieter but you have to venture o...
