We drove to this museum after reading about it online and so glad we did. Considering its a private collection what's on show is just unbelievable. Certainly worth dropping in and having a chat. Great for the family.

The owners gave this quite an effort - a lifetime collection is shown in a couple of rooms in a nice building, but unless you are also a police fanatic, this is not worth a visit.

This is just the ideal place for anybody. From young to very old, something for everybody in this privately owned museum.
Normally open weekends only, but a ring on the doorbell will get it opened if the owners are there - alternatively ring and book in advance.
Small charge for entry.
Has Police motorcycles and cars fromNew Zealand and also USA, Italy and China on display at present. Also a brilliant display of Polcie uniforms, and all sorts of Polcei related memorabilia.
Definaltely far better than the NZ Police Museum near Wellington.
If you are Polcie or retired Polcie - discount available on entry. bring Polcei uniform or items from your part of the world for the museum to expand the collection, and may even be free entry.

We were visiting Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa from the US. A police officer friend had happened upon this museum and recommended it - we also stayed in the spacious B&B upstairs. Bruce, the owner, is a retired police officer who amassed a collection of police artifacts over many years and many trips overseas. We spent a few hours with him, and his stories made the collection come alive. There are also police cars and motorcycles on display.
A nice addition to a small town; I hope word spreads about this attraction.
