We choked on the food and the thick cigarette smoke. The whole house reeks of smoke, as the inn keepers chain smoke and keep all the doors and windows shut tight. The website advertises organic food in the garden and fresh, local produce, when in fact the host serves processed frozen and canned food with no taste and instant coffee for breakfast. There was nothing but weeds in the garden. It's a mystery to us how these people ever got a Green Dragon award, or why they are even running a B&B.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Blaen-y-ddol Guest House is situated in a wonderfully peaceful setting, overlooking the Ystwyth valley and a nature reserve. Instead of the noise of traffic and other intrusions of modern life, you will hear the sound of buzzards mewing overhead, and the stream which tumbles through the garden. This is the ideal base for walking, birdwatching or cycling. Several paths and tracks lead straight from the house and the lanes in this part of Mid Wales are virtually traffic-free. We are only 2 miles from the Hafod estate - the most important Picturesque landscape in Europe - and 10 miles from Plynlimon (the highest mountain in Mid Wales) and the spectacular Elan Valley. We have a wide choice of self-guided day walks to suit all aspirations and interests, from easy 5 miles country or coastal walks to serious hill-walking in the remote high-level terrain of the Cambrian Mountains. ... more less
