An excellent place to pay your respects and learn a bit more of Australian history. It's a humbling experience, and the people who maintain the cemetary should be congratulated on their work and dedication.

To find, turn off the Highway at the service station, turn right and follow the road along the river about 1.5km to this beautiful cemetery. Very well maintained it is a respectful memorial to many killed during the attacks on Darwin; in addition to the graves there is a memorial to those killed in Timor and other Asian countries whose bodies were never recovered. Like all war cemeteries it is hard to ignore the young age of most of those interred there. Plenty of shade so you can stand or sit and reflect quietly. Very moving.

Stop in the small town of Adelaide river.
There is a nice little cemetery and memorial of those who lost their lives during World War 2.
Located less than 1.5km from the Adelaide River Inn, it is a nice walk there after a meal.
Compliments to the caretakers of the gardens, which are immaculately kept here.

Beautifully maintained memorial to the lost.
I did expect the cemetery to be bigger, but not all the victims of the attacks are there (not sure if that's planned) but the simple plaques naming each of the lost are moving in themselves. Although the lack of details on some of the civilian stones made including a couple simply reading "unknown" certainly made it a sadder place.

The preceding reviews say it all!
This is a beautiful final resting place for the unfortunate victims of war. Congratulations to all concerned on the magnificent presentation and careful maintenance of this peace-filled place.
