“Pond in back garden probably more interesting..”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

I really wanted to see this it sounded interesting the photos looked good however it just looks like a large pond with algae in it! Looked kind of luminous in pictures but in the flesh its very dull. Have a look if you're passing but don't go out your way!

“Alright if you're passing!”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

It's quite a spectacle and it's free but it's not absolutely amazing. The walk up to the viewing point is not for those unsteady on their feet and the walk actually down to the pool itself is. Ordering on treacherous.

I was passing and I'm agile on my feet so it was worth a look but it's certainly not somewhere that would interest children (of any age).

Not a lot more to say!

“Weird natural lake has to be seen”
Reviewed 7 June 2014

El Golfo is a little town with some nice restaurants overlooking the shallow rocky coastline. The attraction is a weird green lake, the colour being due to some natural chemicals from the volcanic rock but it looks a bit like an environmental disaster crossed with a sci-fi movie.

To see it you have to walk a fairly steep path but it's worth it.
A sign advises against swimming in the lake - as if! It is full of fish though and no doubt a green bog monster too.

El Golfo is worth a visit just for the dramatic coastline alone. AND it's FREE!

“Cool little find”
Reviewed 20 May 2014

My partner wanted to visit El Lago Verde as it has been used in lots of films. It's quite strange with the black sand and green lake, but other than that not much going on. If you are in the area pop over and take a look, but I wouldn't travel far for this.

“Best on a sunny day”
Reviewed 9 May 2014

Best to visit this if you're in the area - it's really not worth a special drive out to. Green lake, only visibly green in full sunshine. We only got glimmers of green on our overcast day! Beach next to it is very small, with black 'sand' (more like tiny rocks, not very fine). Avoid going for a walk in the land opposite the car park - its used as a toilet by visitors and is full of used toilet roll :S
