Le Gindreau is somewhere you will be absolutely spoilt from the time you arrive until you leave. They had rooms inside but the weather was perfect for dining outside. This was a highlight of our holiday and of my eating out experiences. The location is lovely, the staff attentive but not intrusive and they were very friendly. The courses were exquisite and was able to complement the chef when he emerged later in the evening.
If you are in the area and want to try a Michelin starred restaurant I would defiantly recommend this one.

Having been faithful to the Gindreau under M & Mme Pelissou for many years, we are just delighted to be certain, after 3 delicious meals this year so far, that it continues in good hands with the Bardets. Impeccable service, stunning and delicious food, excellent wine list and exquisite surroundings, what more can one ask for? Hitchcock the magpie also adds a certain "Je ne sais quoi"! We shall be back, very soon!

.....in Michelin-starred restaurants having been given food poisoning on my last encounter in a well-known, two-star restaurant near Toulouse where they presented me with a birthday cake instead of the 40th wedding anniversary dessert I had ordered!
Le Gindreau has lost any of its earlier pretentiousness and has clearly taken the lead in understanding that origami-folded napkins, Svengali-style presentation and over-elaborate cuisine are not prerequisites for excellence. Instead one gets the welcome of a team as fresh and sincere as if it were an opening night. Faultless attention and courtesy from the staff lead you seamlessly through a gastronomic experience that is worth any price. My criteria for the food is simple: " We couldn't eat this at home"! Le Gindreau never fails to on this score. Equally impressive is the young sommelier who is sincere, innovative and so knowledgeable (of course - he's worked in New Zealand) about his wine recommendations which are impeccable. The change of ownership has been immaculately handled so that le Gindreau sails serenely on following the simple edict that: "If it ain't broken, don't fix it"! A final highlight was the idea to team the cuisine of le Gindreau with the wine of Clos Triguedina (my favourite Cahors vineyard) in a night of Bacchanallian delights. Pure genius!

We have been strong advocates of Le Gindreau in the past, though had not eaten there for a couple of years. So, when we heard that it was sold and that Alexis and Martine Pellissou were still in residence until the end of September 2013, we decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary and birthday for 1 Sep at one of our favourite restaurants. It was a beautiful sunny day and we were looking forward to a great meal on the lovely terrace overlooking the Quercy countryside. We were not disappointed with the setting, the welcome from Martine or the location of the table. The menu was as colourful and mouthwatering as ever and we both ordered the fois gras served in four ways - fois gras creme brûlée, fois gras ice cream, natural fois gras and fois gras and spiced apples served in a biscuity cornet) - truly memorable after an equally superb mis en bouche based on bouillibase. We both ordered the pigeon with pan fried fois gras, livery sauce and fondant potatoes - similarly good but not as great as Alexis' star dish of cannette de Barbary (no longer on the menu, alas!). The cheese trolley was as good as ever though the sight of blue Stilton was disappointing - where was the Roquefort or the Bleu d'Auvergne?

From here onwards things went pear shaped - I ordered the Vanilla Soufflé with red fruits and we waited, waited and waited - 1 hour and 20 minutes after our cheese plates were cleared, the soufflé arrived alongside profuse apologies with the explanation that the oven was playing up. True, we were offered Italian ice cream after an hour - just to keep us happy, but, by then we were just wanting go home and finish the afternoon by our pool. Paying the bill was also unnecessarily prolonged - to the point that I took the bill to the reception desk and waited some more.

The normal Pelissou high expectations of the serving staff were also less evident and only one waitress was particularly engaging. The new chef joined Alexis for a table to table tour and talked with us about the restaurant moving to the next chapter but on this showing we may not rush back. The new chef's wife, took the role of Maitre d' but she clearly needs to grow into the position.
