Only needed to stay for one night but was impressed by the hotel. Nice touches like the DAB radio in the room, complimentary mini-bar, LCD TV, coffee/tea machine in the room, free wi-fi. Breakfast very good. Staff very pleasant and approachable. Car park a little small and tight, but free (and there was roadside parking).

My only negative would be the shower. Having obviously put so much thought and attention into the rooms and their contents, how can you have showers in which the water barely makes it up the shower hose, let alone at any force?! Was really poor.

However everything else was perfectly fine.

The Rooms are a large size with freeview Tv, coffee/tea facilities The Breakfast was very nice, Full English or cerals, fruit etc. The hotel is approx 15 mins walk to the York Walls. All in all i'd recommend this hotel

we stayed two night at the hotel Noir, you can tell that it had been an old inn or bed and breakfast but someone has tried very hard to do this little hotel up to a good standard ,and make it a little bit out of the ordinary. In our room the bed was lovely and comfortable, so were the pillows, the sheets and towels were white and lovely and clean. All the extras, like fresh milk and the coffee machine, the fridge and free mini bar was much appreciated. We also had extra blankets and a fan heat that we didn't need. Our room was at the front of the hotel, the traffic outside was noisy but this was for a city break so we knew there would be traffic around, we could walk easily to York in about 15 mins, but we saw there was a bus just outside to take you into the city. All and all i would go back to stay. The wii fi was also fast and free.

I recently stayed here in a twin room for three nights and was really impressed with it. The room was spacious, the decor was brilliant, so many lovely photos and mirrors and pieces of art in the room and on the walls of the corridors.

The bed was comfy, I think perhaps the mattress was a bit old, but it was fine. There was a FREE MIMIBAR! With a small bottle of wine, bottle of Carlsberg, can of Coke and can of Sprite as well as water and milk. A tassimo coffee machine was also provided with the choice of coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Everything was replenished each day.

The bathroom was very stylish, with complimentary (and very nice) soap, moisturised, shampoo and shower gel. My only criticism of the bathroom is that the shower space was Very small and the shower wasn't very powerful.

The only criticism of the room is the heating. I think the building is an old converted Victorian hotel and they've obviously had trouble getting central heating in/insulating the building as the room was a bit cold. There was an oil radiator next to my bed but the rad next to my friend's bed didn't seem to work. Nonetheless, there were two fan heaters in the wardrobe as well as extra blankets, so no big deal really.

The wardrobe also harboured a safe, iron, ironing board, hairdrier and electric fan. Reception also had other items which you could borrow if you wanted such as hair straighteners and sewing kits.

There was also a DAB radio and iPod dock which was very modern and a large flatscreen digital tv.

All in all, the room was brilliant.

Reception staff were friendly and helpful.

There is a restaurant here and I didn't eat anything but my friend had breakfast - this was a bit pricey (£6 for a bowl of cereal and a coffee).

I've read somewhere that this hotel is 10 minutes walk from the York Minster - this isn't true! It's about a half hour walk (we are both young, fit and healthy!) But it's not an unpleasant walk. We got a taxi back from the city centre one evening and that only cost £5.

We didn't use the car park but it did look small. We walked from the train station which took about half hour.

I loved staying here and would do so again :-)

We stayed for 2 nights in an annex twin room and found it to be spacious and clean with a lovely modern bathroom, the hotel is quite close to the city with a regular bus service no. 2 into town every 10 minutes, but it finishes early evening. The mini bar was smashing, although a biscuit with our cuppa would have be great.
A good breakfast but a bit overcooked on the second day, staff were helpful too.

My partner and I stayed here as part of her birthday trip away. The hotel is stunning from the outside, the reception area clean and modern, the bar/restaurant also (although this was empty morning and night so we decided not to have a drink there). The room was up one flight of stairs and along a corridor at the top of another staircase. No noise whatsoever. The room itself was very spacious with a double kingsize 4 poster bed, flatscreen TV on wall and a coffee machine. Mini Bar is also FREE if you go for the deluxe room which we did. Matress was memory foam giving an amazing nights sleep. Bathroom small but clean and contemporary + complimentary soap/moisturiser/bath and shower gel.
Location is very good but not perfect. About a 1mile walk into the city which is acceptable, although taxi's are pricey depending on the time of day. Only thing to pick at was the hotel carpark, very very tight and small, could probably only accomodate around 7 or 8 cars (smallish cars).
Only regret was staying there for just 1 night.
Will definatley be returning
