“Another fabulous visit”
Reviewed 8 December 2013

Just back from two nights at The Forrester's Arms and once again we had a fabulous time. Our room was a generous size with a very comfortable bed guaranteed to give a good night's sleep. The fluffy towels and good quality toiletries in the en suite bathroom were much appreciated. Tea/coffee/biscuits and a flat screen tv were also provided. Locally sourced and beautifully prepared food is served in the restaurant. A specials board supplements the choices on the regular menu and portions are generous - wear something with an expanding waistband! Nigel, Dawn and their staff made us feel very welcome and the locals were very friendly too.

Room Tip: Have stayed in most rooms over the years. You won't be disappointed whichever you choose.

Lovely traditional pub in a beautiful village complete with running brook down the side of the road! We chose this pub as it is dog friendly and we weren`t disappointed. Our friendly dog was made to feel most welcome and was quite a hit with the locals in the bar in the evening! We chose the ground floor room (No. 1) as it was handy to take the dog out for walks (its outside but accessed under cover). Nice sized room with good furniture, spacious bathroom with lovely toiletries and good towels. Tea/coffee/biscuits provided in rooms and flatscreen tv.
We were allowed to eat in the bar area with our dog which suited us. Good, fresh food, both for dinner and breakfast, mostly locally sourced. Beautiful restaurant and separate nice breakfast room. Open fires in the "small bottom bar room" and the main bar which made it nice and cosy. Plenty of parking in the square outside. The Mouseman furniture showroom and factory is next door with its visitors centre and cafe across the road. Lots of lovely places to visit within easy reach. Owners and staff made us very welcome and the pub is obviously the centre of the local community. Ideal for walkers to call in for lunch/coffee and home made scones/cake etc. We enjoyed it very much.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Forrester's Arms for one night as we were attending a wedding at the Newburgh Priory. We didn't spend much time at the B&B as we were out all day but it seemed like a lovely place. We were asked to ensure we were back by 12 and the B&B kindly gave us a taxi number to use. We found the staff friendly and the breakfast was lovely. The room was quite small but it was cosy and had a nice supply of tea, coffee and biscuits. The bathroom was a really good size and everything was very clean. The B&B was a little overpriced for what it was (£80) but that did seem to be the going rate for the area. We had a lovely walk on the following day and the B&B is a very good location for exploring that part of the North York Moors. I would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in the area.

Great british pub with comfortable rooms, good food, relaxed atmosphere and lovely location. As a base to see the local area and nearbye York this little pub/ B&B is perfect. It has the bonus of serving really tastey food and great real ales,Rooms are clean and comfortable. The hosts are friendly and helpful and had no problem catering for my wifes gluten free diet requirements.

We loved the new tables & chairs outside also the hanging baskets. The floral displays are always good. Room excellent with crisp linens and lovely soft towels. Great choice of food and tasted superb. The kippers seem to get better. Thanks once again for a great break.
