We really enjoyed the old-fashioned charm of this pub as well as the tasty food. Ate there several times.
Right across from our B&B.

Broke our journey to Aberyswyth here. Lovely cosy pub, real fire and great coffee complete with lovely bit of shortbread. I think we were the only customers on a wet Saturday lunchtime but the lady behind the bar was chatty and friendly. Pleasant enough that we stopped in the same place on the way back while they were gearing for Sunday lunch.

We stopped here for lunch and ordered two meals from the specials board at £8.95 each. One was acceptable, though not particularly good value-a bowl of stew accompanied by a bread roll. The other consisted of a small slice of lamb pie accompanied by mashed potato and a gravy boat. These two items sat in splendid isolation on a dinner plate. I enquired about vegetables and was told that veg did not come with the pie. When the waitress entered again, I complained and was given to understand that most people were satisfied with this extraordinary meal. I suspect the truth is that most people don't like to complain and said so. The waitress walked off, but came back in again a few minutes later with a bowl of nicely cooked carrots and cauliflower.
I am mystified as to what was going on here. The chef appeared to be trying to get away with serving as little food as possible in return for £8.95. Value compared with a much better establishment like The Bear at Crickhowell, which charges much the same, was appalling. I can't believe that any decent management team could possibly think that a slice of lamb pie, 4 inches at its widest, and a dollop of mash is worth£8.95 at lunch time in a modest pub in Mid Wales. So why not just bring the vegetables to begin with instead of waiting for complaints? Mystery.... But we won't be going back. A great pity, this used to be an excellent pub years ago.

Stayed in the Inn for three nights for the first time back in May 2013 (only now getting around to a review...). Excellent stay in a great room but the real highlight was the food. Three nights we ate off the three course menu and the food was about the best pub food I have had before, anywhere. And excellent value in relation to quality which was faultless. My wife is vegetarian and the chef made a special effort to make something different for her each night. And the morning breakfasts were brilliant too. Highly recommend and we will be back in 2014!
