“Absolutely fabulous!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 September 2013

We completely agree with all the positive comments that have gone before. This place is absolutely fabulous. We particularly loved the "at home" feel to the place which makes it really special - not a reception desk or bar in sight. Impeccable service, beautiful décor, great food. We called in for some lunch and were bowled over - wonderful.

My wife and I booked 4 nights at this wonderful venue as a base to explore the Brecon area. As we drove up to the entrance we were impressed with the setting; the experience continued as we entered the Hall. The stateroom we had was perfect, as was the attention to detail with perfection in the bathroom, the bedroom and lounge area, the main dining room and the various lounges. The staff were perfect; the food plentiful and excellent. We started with tea on the terrace and never looked back with the breakfasts setting us up for active days of touring. A wonderful hotel that treats you as if you are staying in a friend's grand house - we hope we will return.

I booked afternoon tea here as an experience for mum as a birthday treat. We were not disappointed! The service was excellent we were all made to feel very special through out the whole time at the hotel. It is an amazing beautiful house set in a stunning location which made us feel like millionaires. The tea, sandwiches, scones and cakes were all absolutely amazing. I would recommend this experience to any one.

My daughter and I decided to celebrate her exam results with afternoon tea at Llangoed Hall. We arrived in a heavy rain shower and as I was locking the car suddenly there was someone at my side sheltering me with a huge golfing umbrella! And so began some of the best service I have experienced.
I had booked but I didn't even have to give my name, we were shown to our table in the lounge where everything was laid out in readiness. There was a selection of beautifully presented finger sandwiches (crusts cut off of course!) and a wonderful tower of perfectly sized cakes and pastries which meant you could have quite a few without feeling over indulged. Everything served on gorgeous china, the teas we chose were top quality.
The service was attentive without being overwhelming and followed the mantra of knowing what we wanted before we even knew it ourselves. We were offered more tea, hot water etc at exactly the right time and even a box to take the leftover cakes home in without having to ask.
All this took place in beautiful surroundings and a relaxed atmosphere. If I had to deduct one point it would be the the ladies loo that is in need of a little redecoration but this is an observation rather than a complaint.
I feel lucky to have such a great venue on my doorstep and will definitely be visiting again.

The moment you arrive at Llangoed Hall, you immediately feel relaxed and important. The whole experience is more like staying at a grand country house rather than a hotel. It really is very special. The attention to detail is beyond belief, the bedding, the towells, the antiques, the fabulous bespoke china and cutlery with patterns exclusive to Llangoed Hall. The investment on the buiding in and out is clearly vast and it shows. Everthing is spot on!

The food! My goodness me you would struggle to find better. The new hear chef is clearly on a mission towards Michelin Stardom! The cuisine is innovative, varied and beautifully presented and served, in a glorious dining room with views of the grounds. Staff are attentive, not starchy, just the right level of service to make everything frankly perfect!

We will be back over and over again.

What a wonderful country estate. Our stay at Llangoed Hall was the highlight of our recent holiday. The accommodation is fabulous. Our friends had an equally beautifully decorated spacious room. The grounds are suburb and we had a fun time playing croquet on the extensive lawned area. The staff were extremely accommodating and made us feel very welcome. We will return and we have no hesitation in recommending this stunning country house to all who love elegance and style.

The former home (one of them), of Laura Ashley, recently refurbished in inimitable style. Everything was the best - and we don't say that often. Impeccable rooms (we had the premium suite), pseudo Victorian 360 degree shower and bath, draped bed and furnishing - and wonderful to have the highest quality bed and mattress (see our other reviews for what we think of other so-called 5 star hotels). Llangoed Hall really is just that. Impeccable dinner and service. The freshest of breakfasts (even though any other Black Pudding, other than Scottish, is so-so): local larver bread ('Welsh caviare') and other breads freshly baked on the premises. Brian, and his colleagues, formally dressed, greeted us on arrival in the driveway in front of this grandest of mansions.

Surrounded by original artworks (not the reason we stayed there), it was just magnificent. What more can we say?
