Reviewed 3 November 2013 via mobile

Once again, another first class meal produced by really friendly staff. Were local to Brecon, so we have visited this place a fair few times, and we have NEVER been let down with the excellent standard of food.

“Very good choice of food and drinks”
Reviewed 23 October 2013

We stopped by this place on our way back from a days exploration in the Brecon National Park. The view from this place is stunning. Truly, a very nice place. The staff and service is excellent. Good choice of pub food available. They are normally fully booked in the restaurant. Apparently, their restaurant is one of the best in the area.

The prices are reasonable for the remoteness (remote location) of the place.
They are not open all the time, so better to check their opening times.
From their website:

Lunch and evening menu available 12-2.30pm and 6pm till 9pm (Closed on Mondays )

Sunday lunch served all day till 8pm full menu also available from 6pm

“Lovely location. Average food.”
Reviewed 12 September 2013

The Old Ford is situated on the outskirts of Brecon with a stunning view of the Brecon Beacons. Picnic tables outside enable you to make the most of this on a fine day. Choice of real ales is limited but the menu sounded fine.
Choosing a simple battered cod and chips, I was not impressed to find a watery, mushy filling inside the batter, which may have started out as a frozen piece of fish but was destroyed in the cooking. My wife chose the pie of the day - chicken and mushroom - and was happy with the filling but thought there was too much pastry. While it wouldn't be fair to complain about the quantity or price of the food, we felt that an "average" grade was the most we could give.
Others have praised the food highly, so perhaps we were unlucky. The service was fast and friendly.

“Lovely Food, good service, nice atmosphere.....”
Reviewed 31 August 2013

We, a family of eight, ate here this weekend. Our food was quickly brought to the table, piping hot, all at the same time by friendly, smiling waitresses. Every meal was terrific, well cooked, well presented home cooked, honest food. A real treat and great value.
Well done the Old Forders ! We look forward to returning.
