Arranged this as a surprise treat for our wedding anniversary. I had read some good reviews on Trip Advisor and other favourite sites ie Sawdays and it looked exactly what I was looking for at a reasonable price. It didn't disappoint! Lovely room, lovely big bed and roomy bathroom. The place is full of books and magazines. Food was lovely too. There was a la carte and a set menu but as B&B & dinner guests we could mix and match these as required. I had their creation of a breakfast martini before which was delicious. Wine ranges from £23 bottle so very affordable. The desert of salted caramel parfait and peanut butter ice cream couldn't have been a better end to a lovely meal. Good choices for breakfast too including home made bread, marmalade and muesli. This just shows the pride everyone puts into providing a good service to customers. It's also good to see that it appears to be used as a pub for locals too. Very dog friendly too for people looking for this facility but not off putting for non-dog owners like us. Location good for the Brecon Beacons National Park, Brecon town, Abergavenny and Hay on Wye.

Room Tip: Our room was in the front of the building but we weren't affected by any traffic noise. The sho...

We have been here many times over the years, it's our favourite restaurant, so it's about time we submitted a review........
The Brecon Beacons is fortunate to have one of the best hostelries in the UK in its midst. The quality of its food surpasses that of Michelin starred restaurants in London which, complimented by its unpretentious demeanour and friendly staff makes it a thoroughly enjoyable place to eat and relax.....here's looking forward to a visit to the Cornish Inns.

All the ingredients are right. Interesting menu, comfortable atmosphere, good welcoming service with the added bonus of a well kept pint. (Minor moan, allow customers to sit around bar, when plenty of tables are free in the bar/reception area)

Just came back from a great lunch at the Griffin. The staff and service were some of the most friendly, helpful and natural that I've ever come across. It makes such a difference to see a happy, smiling face when you come through the door - you felt like the staff really enjoy working here. The food was beautifully presented, we had the 3 courses for 21 pounds which I thought was very good value. My dishes of smoked salmon starter, pork main and rhubarb meringue dessert were all really tasty, the setting was comfy and warm with the real fire on in the background, plus chef sent us a few little tasty appetisers prior to the meal which was a nice touch. We stopped off on route to Hay-on-Wye, and I would definitely do this again. Great food, but it is the quality of its friendly and professional staff that really sets this place apart

We stayed for one night on the winter deal - evening meal and breakfast. We had a wonderful time; the welcome was warm and the food was fantastic - the rhubarb and meringue pudding might just be the best pudding I have ever tasted! We'd been for a wet and walk in the Beacons in the afternoon so after dinner we curled up on sofa beside the fire - perfect! Our room was very comfortable and all the staff were really friendly and welcoming to us and our ridgeback dog, Raffi. My only complaint is that we had to come home! Thank you to the staff for making our break so utterly lovely.

Room Tip: Some people think the rooms on the road are noisy. I didn't, and we slept with the window open...

We had a lunch with a group of 5 friends on a Saturday. The menu is reassuringly small but with plenty of choice. The food was great and arrived quickly, the wine was excellent and reasonably priced. We also love the paintings that are available to buy from a local artist.

Very much recommended.

We stayed in the Felin Fach Griffin on Friday night for my birthday on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. The service here is faultless, friendly, professional, nothing is too much trouble, even down to printing an individual dinner menu for my husband due to his nut intolerance. The place is quaint, quirky, warm and cosy and most welcoming with a good choice of real ales, Six Peaks my favourite. The food and wine were wonderful, a pleasure eating every course, smoked salmon fishcake, roast duck and treacle tart all washed down with an Australian Shiraz "The Lackey" highly recommended. The room warm and comfy, a powerful hot shower and a bed I wanted to take home. All in all a wonderful stay that I hope to repeat again soon it is close to Hay on Wye which is a lovely town and well worth a visit.
Thank you very much to all the team at the Felin Fach Griffin you are doing a brilliant job and it is very much appreciated.
Cheers
