It's the people who make this inn such an enjoyable place to stay at and/or dine at. Every member of staff we came across during our 2 day stay were unfailingly cheery, enthusiastic and efficient. Our bedroom was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and spacious. Our spring break DBB deal was great value for money, particularly as you could mix and match from the a la carte and set menus. The food was always interesting and attractively presented at a nice pace. The smoked salmon and duck starter, the gnocchi, Welsh rib-eye, and the treacle tart were particularly memorable. The wine list (not cheap) has a lot of unusual wines. This was our first visit but certainly won't be our last.

We stayed just overnight as a winter treat, we arrived mid afternoon and were welcomed warmly, and enjoyed a drink in the bar. When we came down later for dinner we were again made to feel very welcome friendly staff, dinner was delightful, well thought out menu, knowledgeable staff serving beautifully presented and tasty dishes. Excellent unfussy atmosphere in the bar and restaurant, we very much enjoyed.

We had a really enjoyable but short visit to the Felin Fach Griffin.

Really friendly staff (especially Saren and Huw).

Great location. Great food. Great service.

We look forward to another visit at some stage.

Our second visit to the Griffin to walk in the Brecons for which it is perfectly located. This time with weather more suitable than the dense mist we encountered last time. But no change however in the quality of food on offer, the comfort of the rooms and the range of local ales and hand picked wines. It is a truly fabulous place for strenuous days out followed by well deserved pints and a wonderful meal in a pub that deceives from the outside - inside it's all sofas, log fires and helpful staff to ensure complete relaxation.

If I am picky, maybe it is time for an update of the bathroom facilities - they are feeling a little dated although they work perfectly well.

The rooms are simple but good sized comfortable beds and quality linen are what you need when you have been walking for 7 hours and it doesn't disappoint in this respect.

The food is a highlight here and every dish was exceptional but the locally sourced beef was truly outstanding.

We stayed here for one night...it's a fab pub, very cosy and busy with a good vibe. We stayed in room 3 - it was spacious with a lovely big bed BUT there was so much noise from the kitchen below that would occasionally make the room shudder. If you are a light sleeper, choose a different room!

Arranged this as a surprise treat for our wedding anniversary. I had read some good reviews on Trip Advisor and other favourite sites ie Sawdays and it looked exactly what I was looking for at a reasonable price. It didn't disappoint! Lovely room, lovely big bed and roomy bathroom. The place is full of books and magazines. Food was lovely too. There was a la carte and a set menu but as B&B & dinner guests we could mix and match these as required. I had their creation of a breakfast martini before which was delicious. Wine ranges from £23 bottle so very affordable. The desert of salted caramel parfait and peanut butter ice cream couldn't have been a better end to a lovely meal. Good choices for breakfast too including home made bread, marmalade and muesli. This just shows the pride everyone puts into providing a good service to customers. It's also good to see that it appears to be used as a pub for locals too. Very dog friendly too for people looking for this facility but not off putting for non-dog owners like us. Location good for the Brecon Beacons National Park, Brecon town, Abergavenny and Hay on Wye.

Room Tip: Our room was in the front of the building but we weren't affected by any traffic noise. The sho...

We have been here many times over the years, it's our favourite restaurant, so it's about time we submitted a review........
The Brecon Beacons is fortunate to have one of the best hostelries in the UK in its midst. The quality of its food surpasses that of Michelin starred restaurants in London which, complimented by its unpretentious demeanour and friendly staff makes it a thoroughly enjoyable place to eat and relax.....here's looking forward to a visit to the Cornish Inns.
