If you want good home cooked food and good bedrooms with freeview big screen TV's and great shower for £30 pp for a newer double room with full English then book in. If you want Alan Patridges travel tavern go elsewhere. Sure bar could do with new fixtures, but stayed before and for the money it's very good.

Room Tip: newer types are better, last one had just been done

Booked three rooms for relatives coming from Ireland for family bereavement and all of them remarked for how much they had enjoyed the Hotel. Rooms were clean, staff very friendly and breakfasts excellent. Many thanks to the Hotel for looking after my relatives. Cannot understand people who blame the hotel for noisy neighbours. This can happen at any hotel. You would struggle at any hotel to get a meal after 2pm. Go across road to Rudds Arms or 400metres south to Marton Shops.

I stayed here with my son, the place is very outdated and the lift only just works, we stayed in a standard room and it was what you would expect for the price, we did not eat at this hotel as the whole place smelt old and fusty, I would rather they did it up a bit and charged more.

This was a late booking and wasn't expecting much from this hotel due to low price. But forget the dismal low score of some this was an excellent hotel and we loved their breakfasts (very good) and the room. We were told about some joke guests on arrival that had done a runner and not settled their 500 pound bill - if you can afford it get a mirror and look into it you total saddos! This was a lovely hotel for the money paid. Full compliments to the chef who was not only happy to cook the food but come out onto the dining area and ask if everything was OK. And also to the sandwiches that he passed around on our last night at the Hotel. If you want five star there is hotels available. But I'm sure not giving the service that this Hotel supplies. Well done to everybody here during our stay

Booked it and for the first time didn't think to check the reviews ( big mistake). The name sounds quite grand but the Hotel itself is shabby from the outside. Reception not very impressive I think the lady was just finishing her lunch when we arrived. We asked if we could get a meal but at 2.05 pm we were told we'd missed it as it closed at 2pm which didn't strike me as very helpful, a sandwich perhaps if all the ovens etc were off but nothing was offered.
The room was very basic but clean. There was no bedside lamp or telephone and the décor was a bit dated plus the blinds had sections missing from them.
The worst part of the stay was the idiot in the room below must have fallen asleep with the TV on very loud and as a result I couldn't get to sleep at all. I went downstairs to the night manager and told him. In fairness to him he went straight to the room and I could hear him banging on the door for some time but to no avail.
By 4am I still hadn't slept and realised I wasn't likely to as the TV was still blasting away so we got up and drove home which not having had any sleep was a little daunting.

Room Tip: Don't bother, try the Premier Inn down the road.

This is the second time my colleague and I have stayed here whilst attending the uni in Middlesbrough. The hotel is tired and dated, but the rooms are clean and cheap. Really needs a good overhaul to spruce it up. Saying that, we paid £45 for a twin room including a cooked breakfast, so can't really complain!!
