“Cock-a-doodle-DON'T stay here!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 March 2014

Around Koh Rong you hear people talking about Tree House Bungalows a lot as if they're perfect so we decided to give them a go - although quite expensive at $35 a night. The actual tree houses are booked up forever in advance (and are boiling hot I heard) so we just got a normal bungalow. At first all looked good. Very spacious bungalow. Then we noticed the door had big holes in, the windows don't shut, the bathroom is terrible, the "private beach" is not private and is nowhere near as good as the main beach. The sea is dirtier and the sand isn't as nice. We had trouble falling asleep due to the sound of scuttling rats & by the time we got to sleep we were woken up by cockerels who cock-a doodled for hours on end. HOURS! It was the least peaceful place we stayed on Koh Rong. They are building new bungalows and construction starts around 8am - but that's ok - you're awake by 6am anyway. Angle grinders from 8am - 7pm is not my idea of peace. On top of all that the food in the restaurants is rubbish & expensive & the staff are not so great. We are backpacking & not fussy at all but this place took the biscuit. You may as well stay in a $7 dorm for the same comfort.

Room Tip: Don't stay here

Stayed in one of the treehouse bungalows for 2 nights. Although it was somewhat expensive (comparatively) I found it to be worth it. Paid 35 a night. As other reviewers have commented, it is not the most secure room, but you can lock up valuables in the safe and we had no problems. The pizza from here was some of the best food I had on the island. The other awesome thing about the tree houses is that they are 5 meters from the water and all you can hear all night is the sounds of waves breaking on the beach. The sunrise in the morning was also the best one I witnessed on Koh Rong.

I agree with many of the reviews that there are better value bungalows both on Koh Rong or the nearby islands. The majority of the bungalows are very tired and dark with dirty bedding.
The pizza is to be recommended and the other food at the restaurant is good but Russian staff member who may deal with your registration is a very unhappy-grumpy soul - not the best person on the staff to greet ne guests. Also the restaurant staff are also mostly unconserned with making your stay a happy one.
With regards booking through Koh Rong Dive Centre, again the staff make it very clear from their attitude that they are simply there to take your money. Although I will be returning to the islands there I wont be going back to Treehouse bungalows or dealing with Koh Rong Dive Center.

Room Tip: The best bungalow is number 1 - the newest.

I had to share after reading all the bad reviews. Of course it didn't rain while we were there, but it was quite nice and remote. I like the title for adventures only. There is no mint on your pillow. We paid only twenty dollars a night and yes there is only gnerator power on island during the day. So charge up your devises and enjoy some alone time with the ocean. Very remote but that is what the guide book said.

Room Tip: Bring your own bottle of choice and sit and listen to waves at night. We had spend a lot of time in...

Just spent one night here on our way out of the Koh Rong islands. The place is pretty simple and fine for a night or two, but certainly short of spectacular compared to other options on the islands. The beach here is full of large rocks making swimming a bit difficult. There are MUCH better beaches in other areas. The bungalow was basic, the best wasn't very comfortable and the bathroom was pretty basic. Nothing to write home about, but certainly not terrible either. If you're really looking for a quiet and beautiful beach, look at other options on the Koh Rong islands instead, though.

We attempted to stay with Treehouse recently on our trip to Koh Rong Island. We had made a booking via email and arrived at the Koh Rong Dive Centre to make payment.
After we were abruptly greeted by the non Cambodian staff we explained that we would be catching another boat to the island that left at 3pm. They would not allow us to travel with an alternate company, we had to use the Koh Rong Dive Centre ferry if we wished to stay with them. This booking guideline was not once mentioned in numerous emails that transpired between us.
At the end of the day this company simply wants to get every buck they can from you, they are not concerned as to whether you enjoy your stay. We wanted to catch the faster ferry that left from Serendipity Pier 5 mins walk (not a 15 min bus ride to their pier) so we walked away, made our own way to the island on the much faster boat and stayed in a great bungalow for the same price on a nicer part of the beach.
It may not sound like much of an issue to some but we didn't want to give a cent to this business as they were unpleasant to deal with and judging by the other reviews sounds like the lack of customer service carries over to the island.
There is much better accommodation out there!

This was the worst stay I ever had. I stayed in a bungalow and didn't expect luxury, just a basic accomodation but this was terrible. Dirty, holes everywhere, lizards, buggs and the worst part, rats. And no I didn't have food in the bungalow, I'm not stupid. But still the rats covered the floor all night, disgusting. I don't recommend anyone to stay here. It's easy for a thief to get in, for example the windows were closed with a knot tied with a plastic bag and there were a lot of holes in the door.
