Wonderful place

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 Nov 2016via mobile
We stayed in the treehouse bungalow which is just amazing, treating us to a beautiful sunrise every morning. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the food is very good for any time of day. The bar offers great drinks and a lively but still laid back atmosphere. We would stay here again and again!

Small inconveniences include no power between around midnight and mid-morning, which makes going to the bathroom in those times rather bothersome and the bikes we rented to go to the other side of the island could be better maintained! This place is not for you if you don't like simple, relaxed and can't take small inconveniences in stride to enjoy beautiful koh rong.

We wholeheartedly recommend taking that activity anyway, sok San beach is breathtakingly beautiful!

Located in an isolated part of the island. That means you have to be prepared not to have alternatives to go somewhere else for food, coffee or drink. But when you choose to stay there you allready know all these - plus that there's not electricity or wifi access all day- because they are written on the web page of the hotel.
Our staying began with problems, because the big boat was under repair, so got there with another - smaller and open, wet to the bone, us and our things to. It was a long and tiring journey.
Resort was also under prepair for the season, so our first front beach bungalow had problems in the bath. They mooved us instantly in another. After two days, because of the rain, the roof was taking water. The same morning the manager -on his own initiative- upgraded our bungalow with no extra charge.
Restaurant is very good, with variety of taste, not only local food. It also offers burgers, pasta, etc. And the prices are reasonable, although there's not another restaurant in the area. I have to mention the kindness of the young local girl working in the restaurant.
Palm beach resort also offers to guests variety of activities - kayak, bikes, billiards, darts, table games. Unfortunately for us during our staying there was only one kayak and no bike, but the day of our departure we saw the arrival or new kayaks and bikes.
Service is o.k. as long as you ask for anything you need.
They can do more for the cleanliness of the bungalows.
Generally we enjoyed our staying there. People were willing to give solution to our problems and the area is truly ...paradise!

Room tip: Prefer front beach or jungle bungalow. Avoid bungalows over standing water -mosquitoes love lilies!!!

I cannot spend half day to explain all the negative points of this cheap backpacker guest house.
Very dirty, everything broken, electricity 4 hours a day, no wifi, most dirty swimming pool in my life, no safe place, sick dogs, no fridge, no AC, i could continue but no time.
JUST WATCH PICTURES, Pictures speaks more than words sometimes..
I sleep in maybe 100 hotels in my life, but its the first time i write a comment on Triadvisor because i am feeling stolen.
Go to Koh Rong but avoid this horrible guest house.

First thing ... All of the reviews about a rude owner/manager is talking about the old one so ignore that!

The owners are great & very friendly and informative about what's around. All of the staff are very friendly and speak super English!
Food & drinks are good prices.
Bungalows are basic but worth waking up on the beach for.

Had great nights with the owners and locals and felt very safe and at home!

Palm beach is simply a slice of paradise, as it's surrounded by beaches and jungle, in addition to being the only hotel on that side of the island. In addition the atmosphere is very relaxed, it's owned by a lovely couple who are always up for a chat and a drink and will help you whenever they can. Their attitude is also reflected by their nice and cheerful staff, who are mostly from the neighboring fishing village (a tip to visit!). The bar/restaurant offers a nice menu and loads of (sexy) cocktails, while the pool table and other games add up to already relaxed atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone!

You are sick of traveling ? Noisy places ? Party all night long ? Here is the perfect place for your escape. Everything is well organized to join the Palm Beach Family. It is easy to discover the hole Island for example the waterfall, lonely beaches and the beautiful village from this place. There are also lots of activities to do, so i would hardly recommend to stay longer ;)
