Discovery Bay Beach Suites
Reviewed 8 August 2014

Stayed at discovery bay for a week and these apartments are excellent, located right on the beach these are some of the best sunset's and views you could wish for. Ideal beachside location if you have children, surfing lessons and windsail buggies activities on beach and Big Vern's restaurant at the rear is one the best diner's on the island likewise the Watersplash bar a short walk along the front.
Apartments are well equipped and even the sofa bed is fairly comfortable, kitchen utensils and crockery are minimal but perfectly sufficient, if your not an early bird I would book an upstairs apartment to avoid being woken up by noisy footsteps from above. (expected when you have children in apartment above).
Located close to the airport but on the other side of the island from main town of St. Helier so would advise car as there is plenty to see and do.
Staff at these apartments are pleasant, helpful and informative but thanks in particular to Judd the manager who was exceptional.
Would definitely book these apartments again.

Room Tip: Apartments 9,10 and 11 are the best for fabulous sunset views and slightly better equpped.

Just got back from a weeks stay at the Discovery Bay Apartments. everything about our stay was excellent. Our flat was clean, comfortable and spacious.shower awesome ! Right by the beach and marvelous views. plenty of parking , a car needed as away from towns, although bus stop across road.Food wise with Big Verns bistro on site no need to look any further food was excellent. Plus another couple of food places a short walk along front.

Apartment is in really nice location but away from human civilisation lol Very nice place to stay if u have your own vehicle or if you don't mind waiting for the bus for an hour. Had to struggle to find a place to eat around for the dinner but you will find a nice breakfast place round the corner.

Had a great welcome from the manageress, Aggie. Our room, 7, was on the first floor and on the right side of the building. It didn't give us a wide view of the beach/sea but gave us the most awesome sunsets I've seen in a long time. A 2 bedroom apartment, big double and tiny twin, and a sofa bed. The twin bed and the pillow where a little on the hard side for my liking. Not really enough comfy seats for 4 or more people, wicker chairs are comfy for 10 mins. Old LCD tv with 10 analogue channels. Kitchen had some old-ish looking and working fridge and oven. Fridge worked ok but not cold enough for some foods to last a few days. A nice powerful shower in the bathroom. Although a few tiny problems, the apartment was spotless, a cleaner came in midweek to change towels, update toiletries and leave bin bags. A really quiet area in St Ouen.

Absolutely brilliant place to stay in jersey if you like surfing. The apartments are excellent and decorated to a high standard with a modern feel, including a TV in each bedroom, good showers, perfectly good oven, microwave etc. The beach is just outside the door and has the best surf on the island. Don't know why more tourists don't go this beach to be honest, maybe it's because the beach is 5 miles long so quite quiet, no matter how many people are there. The cafe 'Big Vern's' is also excellent - the food is really well prepared and not too expensive, with a range of dishes from Thai curry to lobster! There is a surf school on site, which really adds to the atmosphere, as there's up to 50 really excited children around each day all learning how to surf and not too expensive at £90 for a week's lessons. The only downside is the wifi. We were in apartment 1 and the recpetion was good, but my parents were in apartment 10 and could hardly pick up anything, but maybe no internet for a week is not the end of the world!

Room Tip: Apartment 1 is quiet and has best wifi. Apartment 10 has fantastic views.

Found this purely by accident and we have nothing but praise for D/Bay. The manager, Aggie is an absolute delight and helpful beyond belief. We were in a Vista two bedroomed apartment with masses of room; two double bedrooms and a huge bathroom with separate walk-in power shower.

Fantastic views over St Ouen's Bay from a window facing the beach and a balcony at right angles to it. The rear bedroom is directly above the extractor fan for Big Vern's below; we found it locked and this was probably the reason in terms of smells and to minimise a low vibration.

The kitchen lacks coffee mugs, has no dishwasher or washing machine but otherwise is perfectly sufficient. Be warned that the water pressure throughout is pretty poor though, with the exception of the power shower.

We stayed a week and midway through the place was " serviced "; however this consists only of fresh towels and the bin being emptied, so don't be under any illusions.

There is a small onsite car park but if this is full an adjacent public one is free. I would recommend Big Vern's for breakfast specifically. The evening menu is a bit limited but the portions are enormous! There are a couple of other restaurants within walking distance or a very short car ride away.

To sum up, this is the perfect place is you like your holidays comfortable and laidback with some elemental atmospherics provided by the Atlantic. I would not hesitate to go back!

Room Tip: Pick the best you can afford

Arrived and drove 10 minutes to apartment with elderly father and sister. Staff (ESPECIALLY AGIE) couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating. Apartment was very clean and bright. Lovely views overlooking beach and hill views. Exceptional friendly and very helpful staff. Beds very comfortable (even the sofa bed). Amazing hot, power shower. Kitchen fully equipped. Big Verns restaurant(behind apartments) overlooking the beach was outstanding and good portioned meals at a reasonable price. Dad was tired one evening and the staff at Big Verns delivered the meal for him. I recommend the fish n chips (like giant fish fingers but melt in the mouth cod) :-).
