“Reasonable garden at an extortionate price.”

Judith is very personable and tailored her tour to our limited garden literacy. Whilst appreciating her journey and construction of the house and gardens I must concur with an earlier reviewer that at the end of the season she could do with reducing her £6 prices, as most of the salvias that proliferate her garden were finished and there was alack of colour for a country garden. Her comments on environmental elements of the garden are a tad fictitious as there are ample woods and common areas for wildlife to thrive, and her efforts will augment this but by no means fulfil her lofty ambitions to save the planet! A cheaper £3 and much more enjoyable and cultural and thorough appraisal of harnessing nature can be found at the lavendar gardens north of St Brelade's bay.

Four of us visited this garden last week whilst spending a week in Jersey. It was quite unique. The hard work and love that has gone into this house and garden is quite spectacular - a life's continuing work - it tells a story like a book. We loved all the chickens, guinea fowl and the turkey. It was clear from the amount of birds and butterflies flying around, that it is a true paradise for all creatures. This is more than just a garden, it is a conservation of a wide variety of plants and flowers, as well as home to thousands of insects. The fallow field is a sanctuary for wild life to flourish and we loved the artwork too. Well done Judith and thank you. Anne Knight of Otford

Judith's garden is the work of a life time and her passion, creativity and enthusiasm shine through this delightful tour of her garden. Judith is extremely knowledgable, interesting and amusing. Aside from her skill as a Plants Woman she is obviously a keen conservationist, working to create environments for all sorts of insects and fauna using sustainable materials. It is inspiring to see just what she and her husband have created from a derelict plot of land. This visit was a highlight of our Jersey trip. Plus we were privileged to see 2 spotted flycatchers.

Judith welcomed us all personally and gave us a lovely tour of her garden. People including some with slight disabilities were treated with courtesy and respect. She was very willing to answer all questions with a passion and depth of knowledge as expected. There were a huge variety of plants but one must remember they are not all in bloom 12 months of the year and this is very much a garden to encourage wildlife. If you want to see neat rows of begonias and lobelia this is not a place for you. However we found it to be exactly what was advertised and very much cottage garden style. Well done Judith we will certainly visit again and the cakes and classical guitarist were a lovely touch - plus you didnt rush anyone off in a hurry at the end.

The tour was 'guided' by the very intimidating and overbearing owner who treated everyone as if they were children with learning disabilities. We had read a review of this garden in a magazine and decided to visit on our next holiday to Jersey, having visited the Island many times but after a few minutes realised that we had made an expensive mistake as it is never worth the entrance fee. We looked really hard for the fabulous collections of plants advertised, but failed to find anything unusual there, in fact, there didn't appear to be much plant variety or colour in the place at all and nothing resembling a cottage garden in the slightest.. Not to be recommended and having just seen it again on the Country Wise programme on ITV 1, felt compelled to warn others. There are far more interesting gardens to be seen in Jersey where the atmosphere is relaxed and one feels one is indeed, in a peaceful garden, as one should.
