The Rattlebone has a traditional appearance and is quite pleasant inside. The Beer is good and the food also. The one major criticism is that you need to put your credit card behind the bar when ordering food (OK when out side but when in the restaurant -REALLY). This is antiquated and shows that the staff lack empathy with the customer. It sets a bad tone for what is ahead, which is a shame because it really is not bad at all.

“SIMPLY AWFUL”
Reviewed 8 June 2014 via mobile

We had a family meal in this establishment over the weekend, the food was mediocre and border lining on cold. what let this place down was the service, it was simply awful. They were not even bothered that we were there at all, almost portraying that we were being a nuinsance. Dont have high hopes for this place staying open for long!!

“Don't bother - they certainly won't!”

Unfriendly, unhelpful and definitely not customer-focused. Fulfilled worst stereotype of offhand British pub. Suggest you try some of the other restaurants/pubs in the area where customers are actually welcome.

“An experience so good it will lift the roof off and make you feel on fire”
Reviewed 18 March 2014

This is a good local joint with lots of input from villagers and some classy celebrities from nearby. The village has a long history of adventure, and its pubs are well known for their unique atmosphere. The Rattlebone has a very rare rotating billiard table, but that was sadly removed during some alterations, but it may be restored soon.

We recommend the steak supper. The flambe version is a must - a little bit smoky but the flames give the meal an excellent finish. The choice of fine wines makes you feel on top of the world, you might even look up and see the stars right above you.

Get here soon - with meals like this, and service as hot as it is, it will be so popular you may not be able to get a booking. You will be very lucky to get a table on a weekend, or probably on any day of the week for that matter.
