We run an event at Lake Mountain called the Warrior Challenge and needed a place to eat on a Thursday night- but nothing was open in Marysville. A phone call and short drive later we were at the spur and all i can say is we were surprised by the quality of the food!

The Black Spur Inn is a great choice for a gastro pub lunch or dinner when you're staying in the Marysville triangle area. Our waitress was sweet and attentive. The tomato and prawn soup was unexpectedly satisfying. Great steaks too. All up, a pleasant and cosy evening for two.
Age old friends from Yea suggested we meet for lunch at the Black Spur Inn at Narbethong. The drive from Healesville through winding roads of the Black Spur through the enormous Gum forest was an experience.
Approaching Narbethong we spotted the Black Spur Inn and pulled in to wait for the rest of the party.
I must say this is an impressive restaurant with excellent service and choice of menu. The Chicken liver pate, Chicken & Leek Pie & Roasts were only a few from the excellent menu. Deserts & cheeses finished the meal leaving all very satisfied. Without doubt we shall return.
I can recommend the Black Spur Inn to anyone travelling through the area as you will find the drive worth it.
We were really disappointed to discover that this beautiful pub that had no shortage of business on a long weekend was charging a FIFTEEN percent surcharge! On all days, labour day!!! In a tourism area they are getting more traffic through on a public holiday Monday than they would on an average Monday. We most definitely will not be returning as this kind if attitude of entitlement and passing the normal business costs on to the consumer is greedy capitalism. We did not get anything extra for our 15% just a left with a bad taste. And not even so much as a thank you for our patronage and extra turnover that they would not have had had it not been a public holiday.
Firstly may I apologize that we were open to welcome you on a public holiday. We could have taken the easier and more financially viable business decision to close like many others now do because of the very hefty penalty rate obligations, but chose to pay our staff who gave up their leisure time with their friends and family to serve you so that you could enjoy your time away with your family. Next time you enter a premises please take the time to read the displayed notices that state that there is a public holiday surcharge applicable on the purchase of your meal and then you will have the choice to leave and drive on or to stay and thank the kind wait person who is less fortunate than you, who is welcoming you and has chosen to work. Whilst we respect that you are entitled to voice your opinion it may be advisable to check your facts regarding the costs to small regionals businesses before venting your ill informed comments. Please enjoy your next trip away.
Stayed the night at the Black Spur Inn, Rooms are beautiful, King Bed which was so comfortable and the room's decor is excellent, lovely chocolates and complementary port waiting for us. Food was first class and the staff friendly, they could not do enough for you, Jim was more than willing to take us to Stevenson's Falls at Marysville after we finished dinner, Breakfast was 1st class - Can't wait to go back there. Thank you all for making our stay most enjoyable.
