Reviewed 15 February 2014

This is an amazing hotel that provides quality & service. We stayed in the King Room and awoke to the smell of Eucalyptus forest in the morning very comfortable with quality linen. Great shower to help start the day. Dinner was fantastic & cooked to perfection certainly one of the best meals I have had around the world. Staff were great. Recommended ++++

We both loved this place!
Super friendly staff, lovely room and beautiful setting/surrounds.
Our meals were great (if a little slow getting to the table) ... For the first time ever, I couldn't finish mine.
We'll definitely return; hopefully soon.

We met up with family for lunch on the Sunday between Xmas and New Years. We had booked a table of 15 but only 7 could do the trip from Melbourne. This was no problem for the staff here who were very obliging and accommodating.
The menu is great and the food is exceptional.
The chef has certainly mastered his craft!
There is an extensive wine list to chose from.
The location is fantastic and the restaurant overlooks beautiful gardens and the river.
The restaurant is kid friendly and staff couldn't do enough to make your visit special.
We have been here before and will come back again and again! (when we can as we live 9 hours away)
Just love it! Highly recommend!

We went here as a group looking for a quiet place to stay and drink for NYE.
Staff were wonderful and friendly (even when we got a little rowdy!)
Pub food is amazing. The chips are possibly the best chips ever.

We stayed in the ski lodge they have there. It was a comfy sleep (:

Will be back (:

I stayed here with a group of friends on a cycling holiday. We had an upstairs room in the main building, one with shared bathrooms. The rooms were very neat and clean and on a cold night very snug. The owners was lovely and opened up his workshop so we could store out bicycles for the night. The food at dinner was excellent as was the breakfast. Very happy with our stay and I plan to go back for a mother weekend in this beautiful area.

29th October 2013; Maureen and Ken, Mornington Peninsula

A short break at the Black Spur Inn is a "shot in the arm" when a few days away from home is called for. Dianne and her staff provided excellent service during our two night stay in the newly refurbished Premier King room. Excellent sized room with lots of natural light, all the amenities, comfortable king bed, a large screen TV with video, a speaker charging dock for the iPhone and comfy bucket chairs to relax in (unlike many places where one sits in a chair and the other sits on the bed). We also had the option of a front balcony and a rear smaller access balcony. After a fair lunch en-route night one was a relaxed dinner and, following our waitress recommendation it was the homemade Chicken Parma - ripper! Desert? "If possible, may we take a Cheese Board to our room to enjoy with the in room supplied port?" Of course was the reply and off we went with quite a range of cheese, fruit and biscuits.

After a day of travels around the district it was time for our dinner (part of our second night Wine, Dine and Stay a While package. A delightful bottle of Wild Boy - Wood Point Wines was supplied and we settled into a fine meal. We started with the Regional Taste Plate to share and followed with (1) Snapper Fillets with parsley and almond butter, mash and greens and (2) Crunchy Baked Chicken Supreme with a basil parmesan and semi-dried tomato filling, mash and greens. All that was followed by (1) Sorbet Trio and (2) Death by Chocolate - a warm pudding with one of the richest chocolate sauces encountered! A fantastic meal and a great nights sleep in a very comfortable bed.

Both mornings began with a delightfully filling cooked breakfast in a lovely bush setting.

We enjoyed the "Postcards Special Bed and Breakfast on Day 1 and the Wine, Dine and Stay a While package for Day 2.

The Black Spur Inn is a quintessential country pub with well appointed rooms, large dining room (tables not crowded onto each other) and a pleasant sitting area for relaxation. Very friendly staff and a fine chef - what more is required to make for a very pleasant break. Even the checkout process (paying the bill and best wishes for a safe trip home) was a delight.

We thoroughly recommend the BlackSpur Inn.

Room Tip: Ask for the Premier King Room on the forest side corner (room 1) Plenty of morning sunshine, light a...

I spent 2 nights in the king room last weekend. It was magical. The water pressure in the shower was amazing......I didn't want to get out. The bed was so comfy, I also didn't want to get out!!! It was such a relaxing weekend with such beautiful surrounds.

The staff were friendly and were genuinenly interested in our activities for the weekend and made an effort to tell us about the area and things to do.

The food was so delicious. One of the best Schnitzels i've ever had and had to have the next night too. The vegies were fresh and tasty. I would love to be back there now. We had 2 breakfasts there as well which were just as tasty.

The only thing I can complain about for the weekend is that it didn't go for long enough...

Room Tip: The king room was fantastic. Quite modern with awesome heating.
