“Trip to GuangFu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 November 2013

I went to GuangFu as part of a University field trip to study development in rural China. The main tourist attractions are the Tai Chi centre (GuangFu is the birthplace of Tai Chi), the ancient bridge and the city wall. However, it is worth going beyond these and into the city itself, to get a feel for the way the place works.

To see the main attractions, walk the whole wall and see the main part of the city it is worth spending a whole day there. You can be taken around the wall on an electric bus, but you would not get the full experience this way. If possible, go very early to see Tai Chi being performed just outside the walls at sunrise. There is also a light show every year at the beginning of October, which was the biggest and best quality I have been to.

The people of GuangFu are extremely friendly, but as yet there are few Western travellers so you are unlikely to find many people who speak English.

A short drive from Handan City - this is an amazing city was named as Guangpingfu in Ming and Qing Dynasty. Within the ancient walls remains a living village with a number of residneces of from the founding Masters of Taiji Shadow Boxing. The site has a beautifully preserved wall and moat.
