“Just what the Doctor ordered”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2013

We lead busy lives and had just that week had some family sadness, so a night away seemed like a good idea. Darling wanted to stay close-ish to home so as not to lose the benefit of being away in a long car trip, so I set about organising our escape-included in which was our little pooch Archie.
A good chum had stayed at Peace and Plenty a couple of years ago and spoke glowingly of it, so I called up and spoke to Judy, the very capable and welcoming host, who kindly organised matters so we had the Garden Room which meant Archie could snuffle about in a safe enclosed garden.
Darling collected me from work and we drove straight over, and very soon were comfortably settled in our own beautifully appointed home away from home. Much is written about the wonderful decor and surroundings that Judy has put together at Peace and Plenty, all of which is true; i think her greatest talent is creating a welcoming, relaxing and restorative ambience that saw the sadness and stress melt away.
We dined out on fish and chips by the sea, watching the boats come and go and delighting in the fact that the stream of car lights on the far side of the water felt like a world away to us.
After a good night's sleep, it was upstairs for a delicious breakfast and then a reluctant goodbye to the Peace and Plenty. We had a mooch around the village, down to the wharf and finally deciding when the time was right to head home.
Both darling and I agreed that we felt like we'd had a proper break, and arrived back in our real lives rested and refreshed, all just 30 minutes from home. Blissful.

I had a delightful High Tea here with a friend - such a gorgeous Inn which owner and host Judy has obviously decorated with great love and care. She graciously organised gluten free treats for us at short notice which was really appreciated! Highly recommend this lovely place for a girl's tea party, hen's night/baby shower ... perfect spot for it.

The rooms are beautiful, the location is within few minutes walk of the ferry, the shops, cafes, restaurants, and the breakfasts are divine. Judy organised a massage in our room for us.....fantastic way to start the day. Cannot rave enough about Peace and Plenty.

This high tea is really amazing as the teapots, plates and cups are gorgeous. The food is wonderful. The whole experience is very special. The presentation of villa and cutlery is amazing with the pathway leading up to the porch you can tell you are going to step into something special.

My husband and I stayed here for one night, and had the most peaceful and enjoyable time. Our room was beautiful, from the bedding to the decoration to the complementary tea and biscuits. The breakfast was incredibly decadent, delicious and filling, and Judy, the host, went out of her way to show kindness and to make us feel welcome. We will definitely be staying again, and intend to send friends here in future.

Room Tip: No pool or fitness centre. Devonport room was bright and welcoming, although very small bathroom.

we had high tea at the Peace & Plenty and would highly recommend this to anyone. Having been to high tea at several different places in Auckland this one wins by far. The Inn is so quaint and beautiful and has such a homely warm ambience to it. The hats are a great touch to creating the ultimate high tea experience. The food is OUTSTANDING! So much love was put into each little delicacy! And Judy (the owner) was very friendly and made us feel very welcome! Didnt stay at the Inn however had a peek at the rooms and they were very clean and quaint as well! Would love to stay there one day. Definitley recommend P&P.

My husband and I stayed in the Waitemata room: with its pretty French Antique bed and period accessories, it was intimate and fancy. The wallpaper has an antique dressing mirror design with lots of gold leaf- totally unique and of the era! There is a complimentary decanter of port in the room, which added a lovely touch.
Judy is a kind and helpful proprietor. She makes a beautiful breakfast and is at ease in sharing her home with guests.
Stanley the dog should get a special mention- I could have cuddled him all day long!
