Paid SGD 89.11 (USD 72.97) for one night in December 2012.

For that price and for one night the Albion was about bearable. We chose it as it just across the road from the bus depot where you can grab buses to Rotorua etc. We could have stayed in the SkyCity which is still within walking distance but I thought we should save some money.

We walked into the bar of the premises as unknown to us, you actually have to go in a small side door and walk to 2nd floor to get to reception. The man behind the bar walked us up there and showed us our room. He was nice but lacked a bit of social etiquette. The bar is also an interesting looking place. Checking out the next morning reception wasn't open so went down to barman, he pointed over to another man reading a paper "checkout with him". So this dude comes around the counter, takes the keys, and says goodbye. I think the other guy could have done that!

The room was on top floor. The floor smelled of fried food. Our door was right beside door to the floor so was a bit weird. Bathroom has seen better days but overall the room was just ok. No aircon so was stifling hot.

I wouldn't bother with Albion again, but if you're looking to save a few dollars and are catching an early bus the next morning, go for it. It will do the job.

Room Tip: Enter by side door so you don't have to get anybody's attention in the bar.

I ended up here after being kicked out by ponsonby back packers for no id. The room wasnt the ritz but after a 11 hour trip from wellington i was more than happy with it. I got a good nights sleep and thats all i required. Jono of ponsonby backpackers take note of what good customer service is .

We just wanted a cheap room close to town. We didn't find it too noisy. It´s so cheap - it came with a bed, fan, tv, shower. You can't expect too much that price. We did book on an alternative website and we were quoted a price that they didn't have written in the book but they charged us the price we said we were quoted. So that was good of them.

The owner was extremely rude - excuse me for trying to give you business on a weekend!
Noisy rooms - as they are on a major motorway on ramp road
not noisy from the bar - they didn't have many customers, the owner must have scared them off already
AVOID

Room Tip: take goor earplugs or get drunk!

Move over Jamie Oliver, the lady that cooks at this establishment has been in this kitchen for well over a decade. A lovely lady whose food is prepared and served with love. You will feel it, you will taste it. It will remind you of your mother or grandmothers home style cooking. The food was so good that we decided meet our friends for breakfast the next day as well. Great atmosphere and staff that are so down to earth, friendly and like a chat. Cheap as chips and just a nice place to hang out and have a drink.
