“Intimate wine bar”
Reviewed 17 August 2013

Have been here several times over the years and always a lovely evening. A mix of tables, benches and intimate couch seating. Nice fireplace in winter. Very good selection of wine by bottle or glass, good tapas choice available and great friendly service. Could impress that special person, business associates or just enjoy with friends.

“A great wine and restaurant”
Reviewed 6 June 2013 via mobile

Spent a couple of hours here on a friday evening which involved complimentary hors d'oeuvre which was an unexpected bonus. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and the service very good. An extensive and well priced wine list and very cool ambience. A great place to spend a couple of hours!

“Really disappointing!”
Reviewed 9 April 2013

I had heard quite a lot about this place so was eager to give it a go. Unfortunately I now wish I hadn't. I will admit that their strength is definitely wine. There was an extensive list of really good wine. But the food was so so bad. Its quite pricey for the small plates but you don't mind this if its great tasty food.

We ordered the chicken liver pate. They had gone to the effort to make their own pate but then served it with 3 of the saddest pieces of stale ciabatta bread. Next was chilli lime prawn cutlets ($15!!). This was 5 cutlets flash fried with abit of chilli and lime plonked on a bed of inedible rocket. Then cajun spiced "roasted" potates with aoili. These came out as one chopped up boiled potatoe sprinkled with spices. There was not one sign of browning of these potatoes and I just can't believe they would serve these - also plonked on a bed of inedible rocket. The green jalapenos were delicious but there were only 3 and yes, served on more inedible rocket.

The bill for this food came out at $48.00 for these tiny small plates. We left really disappointed, feeling a little ripped off, and still hungry and went down the road to The Hamptons instead.

I would love some feedback on this as surely this can't be the same food that everyone raves about.

“Fantastic Find”
Reviewed 8 February 2013

What a great find, perfect place for us to have a drink and we ended up staying for dinner. Friday night in Auckland is hard to find a quiet place for a drink, this was perfect. The wines were great and love the idea of being able to taste 3 at a time and a taste is quite a good portion. We had dinner as well, their Feasting Plate, just lovely and we sat and grazed for quite a while. Will be a definite go back to.

“A great little find”
Reviewed 19 January 2013

My husband and I have pledged to visit as many of Auckland city's wine bars as we can, and we were delighted with our first discovery. The Wine Loft is short trudge up Shortland Street from Queen and at the top of a flight of timber stairs. The one room bar is immediately welcoming, there are clusters of couches and armchairs arranged around low tables as well as intimate table settings, so groups and couples can be comfortably seated.
The wine selection is good and it would take many visits to try everything that took our fancy, although I would have like a bigger selection of wine available by the glass. I had a New Zealand Syrah which was delicious. There is a beer menu and my husband was impressed with the selection, but after his fourth choice was not available he also settled for a wine, which he enjoyed.
We ordered a red wine platter to share and the food was lovely. The service was excellent and the prices reasonable. We will definitely go back
