Description: Like with our handcrafted beers, you won’t find any packet-mix nonsense in our kitchen, it’s all about fistfuls of freshness. So fresh in fact we pluck the fruit and veg from our own kitchen garden as much as we can. We bake our own bread and make our own sauces. Our eggs are laid by our free roaming brewery chooks. If you listen, you’ll hear they hiccup rather than cluck. When it comes to natural flavours, there’s no faking it, so we let these dominate the dish. With a range of meals catering for all ages and all times of the day, you can make a booking or simply turn up and we’d be happy to fill your plate.

“Good atmosphere for winter lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014 via mobile

Our family of 5 went for lunch on a busy Saturday. The place was buzzing and the staff managed to squeeze us in on the end of a sharing table.

We ordered arancini with smoked fish, potato croquettes, squid and a couple of hot dogs. All the food was tasty and fresh (much better than last year).

The atmosphere is relaxed and fun and the food and drinks are interesting - a great stop for winter lunch or a few drinks.

“Relaxed weekend lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 June 2014

We arrived on a busy Saturday afternoon with friends and a small child. Despite Hallertau looking to be at capacity, we were seated quickly and without any fuss. Service was prompt and attentive throughout our entire visit.

The warm cider was delicious and very moreish and my husband loved his beer tasting paddle. The food was also great, with the four of us choosing the gnocchi (boys) and schnitzel (girls). The schnitzel was tender and tasty and avoided becoming dry like many other restaurant schnitzels. The gnocchi made the most of seasonal produce and was especially warming.

Little touches, like blankets provided to warm cold knees in winter also indicate a customer-focused approach from management. It was a fantastic way to start our NZ holiday, and if we were local, we'd definitely be back!

“Pleasant surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

We went for the first time expecting a tiny cafe. Hallertau is rather large and expects to continue expanding and remodeling. It was so busy on this Saturday we were lucky to sit at the bar since everything else was reserved. I had the ribs which were quite meaty and substantial.....slow cooked and tender. They were slightly kiwi-mild so I used the Hallertau Hot Sauce and the added fire was substantial....excellent sauce that reminds me of Babardian hot flavors. We also tried duck confit salad and that was large with lots of good greens. Not surprisingly, the brewery has ample drinks to sample. We tried the "paddle" of five ales etc. One of us liked the Minimus Morning Brew and the other liked the other end of the spectrum....Schwartzbier. Great experience. Ample parking and personable staff. Afterwards there are lots of greengrocer markets to explore around the Kumeu area. Really good experience.

“Great service, great food, great beers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 June 2014 via mobile

What a great discovery. My friend recommended this place as somewhere to visit for a few drinks and some well needed food.

Food is fabulous, we had the pork belly, garlic bread, arancini balls (their balls are tasty) and fries.

I myself own a bar/restaurant and understand only too well that of the many people that enjoy their experience very few write reviews. If someone has a bad experience then it's a different story.

Service here was exemplary, always willing to help. It was a Wednesday afternoon so quiet but credit where it is due.

Well done guys. Can't wait till next time.

“Good food and beer selection”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2014 via mobile

Popped in for lunch with work colleagues for lunch. I had a great chicken schnitzel. The small meals are quite light so if hungry get the larger plate. Colleagues had the venison burger and thought it very good.
