“Great escape into the outdoors, while maintaining the luxury of a resort”
Reviewed 12 October 2009

We drove up to Canmore for the September long weekend and stayed at Copperstone resort after being referred by a family member. The drive was very quick, taking less than an hour to be at the resort, the check-in was fast and very friendly and our condo/room was ready for us immediately. From the resort we were able to be in Canmore town for dinner in under 10 minutes and we were located very close to some excellent hiking and climbing trails. I was a big fan of the underground parkade, allowing for us to bring all our gear in quickly. I will definately be returning to Copperstone Resort once the ski season begins as it is a great take off point for numerous ski resorts in the area. I recommend a weekend there to anyone who is looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the big city for a trip to the Rockie Mountain region.

We spent 3 nights at Copperstone over Labour Day w/e in a 2 bedroom condo. The condo was nicely decorated, spacious, very clean, well equipped, has very comfortable beds and since they are so new, the units are in excellent condition.

Our unit consisted of main floor with LR, kitchen/dining, laundry room, and second floor with two bedrooms and two full bathrooms (one king bed with ensuite, one queen bed with bathroom across the hall).

Contrary to the info on their website, there is no swimming pool (there's a hot tub) and no BBQ's. We arrived with groceries and since BBQ's were listed on their website, had some nice Alberta beef steaks with us. Without a BBQ, no broiler pan in the stove, and only a small frying pan, it was a challenge cooking steaks for four! It's not really a resort ... just condos, with a common area consisting of a hot tub and fire pit.

We were without internet 2 of our 3 days due to ongoing problems that they have been having with it, and the sound on our TV in the living room kept cutting out. After a couple of calls to the front desk to resolve the TV problem (unsuccessfully), we moved our TV from the bedroom down to the LR.

The grounds were in need of some TLC ... our balcony faced the end wall & utility enclosure of another building, in front of which were a few shrubs, with overgrown grass & weeds... not a balcony that we were inspired to sit out on. The grounds were in better condition in some other areas. The view from our LR window overlooked the complex, with a view of the mountain tops above.

On previous visits to Canmore, we 've stayed in town and missed that on this trip. We like the town of Canmore and beautiful views of the mountains there, the convenience of being in town and having a variety of places to walk to, whereas the area around Copperstone consists of a Husky stop and a campground.

The Copperstone over exceeded our expectations. We stayed for three nights with two teenagers and a five-year old. We wanted to stay longer but since we planned on travelling the province for the week, we had to leave. We rented the one-bedroom with den which was really like a two-bedroom apartment. The den had a bunk bed which ftted my two teenagers just fne. Me and spouse used the master bedroom and the five-year old slept in there with us on his travel bed. LOTS of space, very roomy, clean and modern with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, wide-screen TV's (2-one in master bedroom and one in living room), private patio and underground parking. Maid servce was awesome. Even made-up my five-year old's travel bed. Am already tryng to plan another vacation around the Copperstone. Very happy memories here. Only down-awside was it wasn't right in Canmore but a three minute drive to a hamlet called Dead Man's Flat., but this compensated for the quietness. Loved, loved, loved it here!

We went with our adult daughter and her husband on a destination wedding. Imagine August in Miami, Fl and then going to a humid free mountain destination...great! The resort, although it isn't a resort but more like a condo/hotel. We had a two bedroom duplex with all the comforts of an apartment including dishwasher, laundry, electric fireplace and two bathrooms. The hotel and rooms were very clean and fully equipped. Two TV sets, dining room, small terrace. The negatives were quickly taken care of, such as, SLOW internet, like dial up; TV that had limited reception and an A/C problem. When the staff were made aware of these problems, we had, within one day, full TV access, and the A/C fully functional. David, the in-house engineer took care of everything without delay. They hope to have DSL soon but until then don't bother to bring your laptop.

The "resort", nestled in the majestic mountains surrounding us, doesn't have a view that you want to photograph. Our room faced the highway, had electric poles and a highway rest stop immediately in front of us. If you looked up though, the peaks of the rockies were surrounding us.

The staff were great in every respect.

Heated indoor garage, so that in ski season it should be perfect.

All in all, this spacious condo/hotel is worth the price. As we went to a destination wedding nearby and other guests stayed at two or three other local spots, this was the best option in the area.

We were close to Banff and Canmore and enjoyed the many cafes, restaurants and shops in all locations nearby.

We recommend this hotel. Enjoy!

My husband and a few friends stayed here for 3 nights. The rooms are stylishly decorated and very comfortable. Since it was a condo/hotel we had a full kitchen, washer/dryer, etc... While it is a few minutes outside of Banff we found that to be a huge plus. Banff was very crowded! The hotel staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. They even printed directions to the airport and brought them to our room at 11 p.m. The value for the room is incredible! I would highly recommend this hotel!

We recently spent a week at this resort. We stayed in the one bedroom with a den. The den should really be called a bedroom. It is a separate bedroom with bunk beds (and no window---so the kids slept in EVERY morning!). There is a washer/dryer in the room, full kitchen, living room, and 2 bedrooms. Very spacious place and nicely appointed. We visited the hot tub on a couple of occasions and it was very nice as well. They didn't enforce the 10pm rule on the hot tub, as long as no one was being noisy. The only thing I have to say that is negative about this place is the slow internet. Since they are between the major cities, they do not get the best connection to the internet. Everything else was FABULOUS!
