My wife and I spent two weeks here and one of those weeks were with another couple we travel with. Therefore, we stayed in the two bedroom suite one week then moved to a one bedroom suite for the second week. So, we were able to see perspective from two places.

Our perspective in both suites was the same... the rooms were clean, well built, well supplied, comfortable and roomy. The staff at Copperstone was excellent and answered questions readily. Since our days ended late, we interacted with the young lady who manned the evening desk most days and she was always anxious to help when needed. We also had a minor problem develop prior to our stay. We were attempting to avoid our credit card's 3% surcharge for international charges by sending a check. However, when it did not get there on time, this young lady and others helped us by talking to us often, even calling us in North Carolina, and helping us finally secure payment with a credit card. I have to say that I was a little nervous that they could have been holding that check to simply cash at a later time and considered putting a stop payment on it. However, after they treated us the way they did, we saw no reason to and when we arrived at Copperstone, they handed us our check. Our friends that left us that second week went on to an up-scale resort in Canmore due to a vacation club they are in. However, they were more impressed with Copperstone.

Not all was wonderful with Copperstone and I want this review to be fair so others can know what they are getting. This was not a plush operation that offered bells and whistles with chocolates on your pillow and a paper at your door each morning. The services were basic but exactly what was needed. Getting ice was the biggest hassle since they only had one machine in the basement in the main building. The wireless internet worked well and was fast, however, the DSL link was not. That was a little frustrating, but they they were honest about that when I asked before I made the reservation. E-mail was fine, but heavy programs like Skype were out.

Pots and pans were not the finest, but there were enough and they worked. The clothes washer and dryer did their job as did the diswasher. The right amount of glassware, plates and flatware were what we needed since we cooked big meals almost every evening. The gas grills in the courtyard were large, quality grills that were easy to use and maintained well. Although we did not use the large hot tub, it seemed to be well maintained.

Overall, I give this place 5 stars. The distance from Canmore (about 10 minutes) was a bit inconvenient and I must admit that when I first saw the community of campground and filling stations around the resort, I was concerned. But the underground parking and well maintained grounds of Copperstone separated us from that. And.. that is likely one reason this resort was as good as it was without the price being so high. It was a very good value. If we went back to the Canmore area, I would not hessitate booking at Copperstone.

The Copperstone Resort is probably one of the better condo options in the Canmore area. The previous reviews got it right that this place is well removed from the town of Canmore. It is approximately 5-8 km away from the center of the city. Not a big deal unless you want to be in the heart of the town. Otherwise, except for some nice walking trails, there isn't much nearby.

From the moment we checked into the resort, despite a relatively strong wireless signal, we were never able to connect to the internet. I inquired to the staff on the first day and they claimed the satellite connection was sometimes spotty on cloudy days. The next day was clear and sunny yet no difference. The status never changed through to the time we checked out.

As the service was free and there were better things to do on vacation, I didn't let it bother us.

We rented a 2 bedroom condo for 2 couples and it worked out great. The rooms looked just like the pictures on the web. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were missing dishwasher soap, and didn't have enough coffee for 4 people. We called and these items were brought immediately to the room. The kitchen was adequately equipped with everything you needed to prepare a meal and there are gas barbecues in the central courtyard. There were 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms upstairs. Only 1 bathroom is en suite. We stayed 2 nights, left for 2 nights in Jasper, and returned for 1 more night. We were given a different unit on our second stay and it was just as nice and the first one. The heater/air conditioner thermostat was a little difficult to set but we finally figured it out. Both units were clean and comfortable.

Copperstone Resort is an excellent place to stay as an alternative to Banff. The resort appears to be condomium units which are being rented out. Our apartment had two floors and very large. It had a deck, dishwasher, fridge, two bedrooms and two baths. It came complete with dishes (which had to be left clean or they would assess a $20 cleaning fee). it has gated underground parking. The bedrooms and the living room had flat screen TVs with a good selection of channels. We experienced no noise in the evenings and the blackout curtains were the best I have seen. If you have the time, try the 5-10 minute walk to the river in the rear of the resort. It is well worth it.
I highly recommend this resort.

We stayed at the Copperstone Resort July 10th thru July 15th, 2010. We were in the Banff area for vacation. The views from the hotel are awesome. The room looks very new, was very clean. Nice shower - nice bathroom. They gave us lots of towels but we had problems with them leaving enough wash/face cloths. We had to go to the front desk a couple times. They kept the room clean and made the beds, but one day we came back and the maid had left the door ajar - I reported it to the front desk when we checked out. Was wonderful place for the price - we got a suite with a master bedroom with queen bed and a separate bedroom (den) with bunk beds for our girls. Was an excellent solution for us with teenagers so we could have our own bedroom. They don't have a pool (which the girls were disappointed about) but they have a hot tub. They also have outdoor grills that you can use. Has its own little patio area too. Cable TV had pretty good selection of channels. The WiFi though is awful - it was so slow that we couldn't use it. I hope they get that fixed soon. Parking is in an underground garage - very cool for when it's cold or raining. Overall it was an excellent choice. We would definitely consider going back there again if we visit that area again. The Canadian Rockies was awesome - unbelievable.

This hotel disposes of very luxuary rooms with full kitchen facilities (including dish washer, laundry machine,...), separate living room, 2 televisions, cd and dvd and patio. There is a hot tub, 2 gaz barbecues and a free garage.
However, the hotel is situated in a small commune some 10 kilometers away from Cranmore, where are all the shops, restaurants and other things. In Dead man,s flats is nothing apart from 2 petrol stations of which one disposes of a restaurant.

The wireless internet is not functioning well most of the time and the patio could be cleaner. For this price we could expect a good functioning wireless internet.

Copperstone has beautiful rooms, with full kitchens and plenty of space. My dad and I took a father/daughter trip to Canada to see Banff, Lake Louise, the Calgary Stampede, and Yoho. We had an amazing time. Canmore is so close to Banff, so it made that easy... it is under an hour to Calgary, so it was easy to find from the airport, and made for a central locaiton for us. The rooms really were nice, comfortable and very clean. Having a full kitchen made breakfast and a sack lunch easy... and allowed us to save our money for nice dinners. Also, Canmore itself is a very cute town. Don't pass it up. It was like a smaller Banff. We were there on July 1st for Canada Day and it was great! Copperstone resort also allowed us FREE underground parking which was fantastic, since everyone needs a car to travel around Canada and the parks.

Honestly, the value was incredible at Copperstone.

Other must dos from our trip: YOU MUST climb to the Lake Agnes Tea house from Lake Louise. Although it really is tiresome... I think it took us about 45 min-an hour up... but well worth it. It was really great, we saw lots of families doing it too, just at a slower pace. YOU MUST eat at the Lake Louise Station house and actually dine in a station car. Phenomenal meal, although a tad pricey, the food was sensational and the atmosphere was so so memorable. Also, we went white water rafting in YOHO and it was tons of fun... and then we went on an 8 hour horse back riding adventure... oh my. We saw wild horses, dear, mountain goats and the best views imaginable... and our horses were wonderful, so was our lunch and our guide!!! Best part of the trip for both my dad and I. If you are interested in details... email me.
