I have stayed twice now at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport. It is frankly the best airport hotel that I have tried with top notch service, great rooms and of course convenient location. The beds are wonderful and if it were not at an airport I wouldn't mind staying more than one night.

The only downside is that the extras are expensive but since you are within the bounds of the airport you have easy access to the food courts etc.

The Fairmont Hotel is located inside the airport and I feel it's as convenient as staying in city centre. The rooms are very spacious with comfortable beds and everything was very clean and with floor to ceiling windows with a view of mountains and airplanes landing and taking off. I love the bathroom! It's got a separate shower and a big bathtub. There's a big open window with shutters from the tub so that you can soak and watch TV. The workout facilities and the spa are top notch and the bar is wonderful and quite nice to meet people from all over the world. I didn't eat at the hotel, but other guests mentioned the food was good. The entire hotel staff is very professional and they greet you with a smile and they make you feel important. The train from the airport to the city centre comes every 3-5 minutes and takes about 20 minutes to the centre. You can buy a day pass at the 7-11 in the lower part of the domestic terminal for about $9.25 rather than just paying $7 for one way to city centre and $4 for return. The day pass entitles you to buses as well. The Fairmont is probably the best airport hotel I've stayed at. I'd gladly stay here again.

We stayed here on December 31 2013 new years eve. I paid extra for a room with a view and we stayed in room 1309. The view was nice but the weather hampered a truly great view.
I have stayed at another Fairmont before and this one was a lot more expensive, maybe due to the location and night of the year?
One complaint I would have about a room someone pays so much for is that they don't even through in a free bottle of water ! They tempt you with water etc sitting on the desk in the room but of course you have to pay for those things.
I think for the hundreds of dollars spent of getting a room a couple of bottles of water would not break the bank for them.
As far as the noise, they say the rooms are soundproofed which would be a good thing when there are jets all over the place. For the most part the noise is not too noticeable, except when the jets are doing their run-up that you can hear !
Overall we enjoyed our stay, I am not sure for that kind of money we'd stay there again though.
Hopefully if someone from the Fairmont reads this they could put some complementary bottles of water in the room !

Room Tip: Paying extra for a room with a view is a waste when it is fogged in.

We flew in before 11 pm from Maui and had to catch a flight the next morning home. We checked in online in Maui and when we landed in Vancouver we received an email telling us our room was ready and all we had to do was get our key from the bellman on our way up to our room. By 11:30 pm we were settled in our spacious room with a view of the airport. The room was quiet and included a full breakfast as part of our package. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The buffet breakfast on the lobby floor was excellent and from our table we had a view of the mountains. We felt rested, relaxed and rejuvenated for our short flight home. We will stay here again. The stay here makes our trip from Maui not feel as long.

Room Tip: Take advantage of the B & B rate when booking a room if you need to eat breakfast before catching your flight; A regular king room is spacious and has all the amenities you need

Stayed again at YVR for a night on each side of our travels between connecting flights. The slightly higher costs for a room is worth the convenience of getting up early and taking an elevator down to your departure gates. You don't need to deal with shuttles or taxis. Rooms were nice and clean, service was prompt and professional. Food and drinks are costly at the lounge however the terminal shops are nearby if you want an affordable snack.

Room Tip: All rooms are good. The high ones have great city and airport views.
