As many overnighting travelers we were conscious of 1) distance to YVR, 2) value for money and 3) food services. This Hampton Inn met the test of all three. It is within a short walk (3 min) of the River Rock Casino and even shorter walk to a well-rated Italian food restaurant. The hotel is in an area of busy road and skytrain traffic area but from our room we heard no traffic other than the plane traffic overhead. The breakfast area is nicely presented and opened on time so we were able to grab and go with something warm and nutritious before our 6:05 (on time) free shuttle took us to YVR. The rooms are to the Hampton Inn standard, perhaps a bit smaller, but nonetheless well appointed and equipped.

Really great deal when you need to park and fly. Leo offers great service. It is a really great deal if you can stay past 6 am as the breakfast offered is amazing! Lots of choices! The shuttle to the airport is another major plus.

Date of Stay: Dec. 23/13
Rate: Stay/Park/Fly

Unfortunately, our loyalty to this particular hotel is now irrevocably tarnished. We have stayed every year since 2005 and taken advantage of their stay/park/fly package. Last year our room location was not great (by noisy elevator) and I noted that in the satisfaction survey. Not one to complain we wanted to give them another chance - everyone can have an "off" stay.

This year, as usual, we booked a king suite, and the stay/park/fly package - well in advance. Yet again, we were located in a noisy room (frontage on No. 3 Road) and this was also compounded with a first-ever distasteful experience with the airport shuttle service. During check-in we requested a 7:00 a.m. shuttle pick-up, and they informed us it was scheduled to pick-up at 7:05 a.m. We said, "Great," and booked that pick-up time with the front desk. We arrived to lobby, and were checked out and ready and waiting for the shuttle by 6:55 a.m. Long story short, the shuttle did not arrive for pick-up at 7:05 a.m., and we were repeatedly told "it will be here shorlty." I told the front desk that we couldn't wait for the 7:35 a.m.scheduled pick-up, but all I got in reply was, "It will be here shortly." By 7:20 a.m. we asked them to call us a cab. Once, in the past we had been given a taxi voucher - but that is not the case this year. It is painfully obvious the "Hampton 100% Satisfaction Guarantee" is marketing hype, not reality, as the front desk clearly knew I was not happy, yet did nothing to resolve this issue, holding tight to their mantra, "It will be here shortly."

All good things must come to an end. We will be booking somewhere else next year.

Room Tip: Poor locations: Near elevators and No. 3 Road frontage

Hotel was well priced and the usual Hampton Inn level of service. The breakfast area is a little small and noisy but otherwise no complaints. Unfortuntely we arrived after the shuttle bus service ended due to a delayed flight which meant standing in a long line for a taxi. It would be nice to have a 24 hour shuttle from the airport!!

Stayed again at Hampton Inn Vancouver Airport in Richmond--on the third floor.  The free, friendly airport shuttle, complimentary hot drinks & breakfast, and updated atmosphere were a comfort to my travel-weary family.  The front staff weren't knowledgable in handling Hilton Honors reservations and reclaiming unused points, but I prefer the basic Hampton Inn, which is smaller than gigantic (sprawling) Sandman and feels cleaner than Best Western Abercorn Inn--both other airport inns, at which we stayed on previous trips to BC.  The parking lot is small, but the cleaning staff seem exceptional.  Though there isn't much within walking distance around the Hampton, it's fine for an overnight for business or for family travel, since a Starbucks, Subway, and Burger King are across Bridgeport Road by Sea Island Way. Also, Hampton Inn is at a major junction with No.3 Rd., and it is conveniently situated 5 minutes from Vancouver airport between the domestic terminal and Richmond city centre.
