Great hotel, great staff and perfect for the airport with free shuttle service. Lots of spa/pool facilities but we didn't have much time for using these, what a shame. Only downside is the lack of restaurants nearby - IHOP and a sports bar if you don't have a car but a great quick stopover for the airport.

We travel from Victoria via B.C. Ferry and stay at this hotel at least twice a year when we are taking long haul flights from YVR. We have done this for at least the last ten years. The hotel offers excellent transportation to the airport and for a reasonable charge we usually take advantage of the on site parking. We just returned from Europe and stayed at the hotel for two nights, one at the beginning of our trip and again on our return. I am sorry to see the hotel looking so tired and in need of an uplift. On the third week of June we stayed there and noticed an extremely foul smell in one of the elevators, likely due to someone throwing up. I drew this to the attention of the desk clerk and a person who was obviously a supervisor. Upon our return 16 days later the same foul smell was evident in the same elevator. Once again I drew the matter to the attention of the front desk clerk and another supervisor. I was told they were aware of the problem and were attempting to clean the carpet. Sorry, but not good enough. Sad to say, we shall probably stay down the road on our next visit

Room Tip: Either of the towers are just fine . . . we stayed on the 20th floor in the Columbia tower

Sandman has done a nice job upgrading the rooms at the hotel. They were very comfortable, especially the bed! The indoor pool space and fitness centre was tired, but I guess most go next door to the Steve Nash club. They roll up the carpets early on Monday night, no place in the hotel to get a drink after 11pm. Have to go next door.

Thank you for sharing your comments regarding your recent stay with the TripAdvisor Community. We appreciate your positive comments towards our rooms and also regarding our 'in house' gym. We do usually recommend to use the Steve Nash Gym (complimentary for hotel guests) however it is a convenient option for some who prefer a quick workout.

Although our CHOP restaurant is open to 12AM Sunday and Monday (1am Tues-Sat), the Shark Club Sports Bar and Grill located in our parking area separate from the hotel is open until 1am, and of course, our Denny's restaurant is available 24 hours per day.

We stayed last year for a night and really liked it for the price, so went back for 4 days recently. Hotel was alright this time, but they seriously need to start keeping up with maintenance issues. Our bathroom sink had a big crack in it, carpet was all warped near the door (tripped on it more than once), wallpaper peeling in bathroom etc. Public areas not much better - outside of building was dirty/mildewed with peeling paint, vending machines permanently empty, outdoor pools closed 3 of 4 days and not overly clean looking. Since our main reason for booking was a mini getaway poolside this was disappointing. No one seemed to be able to tell us if/when it would open with front desk saying it's closed if the weather isn't "nice" ( 20 degrees and sunny doesn't count I guess) and a second staff member saying the health dept visited. Yuck. Indoor jacuzzi closed with caution tape and gross looking too.
On the plus side, the gardens were nice and well maintained, lobby was nice, and the staff was friendly. We also got a big discount at booking, so overall I'm ok with our stay. If we had paid the listed rate I would have been very upset as this is a 3* property at best in its current condition.

We stayed in a suite with a small kitchenette. I am not sure if this is the oldest part of the hotel, but it seemed to be in poor repair. The room had patio doors to a back lane that had broken latches and did not seem very secure.

The indoor pool is extremely small and the staircase to the top of the waterslide looked like an old fire escape. I was very nervous about our kids climbing up there on their own.

I definitely would not consider this to be a four star resort. It is a three star hotel.

Getting to and from the hotel from the airport was easy using the hotel free (tip encouraged) shuttle. The lobby was very nice. Large hotel with friendly people at counter. Overall our stay was pretty good. They had problems with elevators the whole 4 days we were there. I don't believe they have enough staff doing maintenance or cleanup. Public washrooms, toilets, plugged, someone volmited in elevator and they just cleaned up with out shampooing. Smelled terrible. I wished our room would have had a fridge. Also would have been nice to have a microwave but for sure a fridge. Room was clean. Balcony not so much. Very nice pools and waterslide for kids. This area was kept pretty clean. If you stay here and want a good place to eat there is a free shuttle service to Flying Eagle Restaurant. Just call restaurant they will pick you up and bring you back. Very nice place on the water about 5 min away. Great food.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a fridge. Perhaps they have them and we just did not think to request one

I am here for work staying 4 night iam sure my room has bugs the fire doors in the halls are very hard to open ,the room is so hot I have to keep the door to outside open not a place you want to stay for the cost I have stayed in way better places in mexico
