The new condos and riverfront development around the historic London Farm in Steveston was an eye-opener. After walking along the waterfront on the well-utilized trail beside the Fraser River, the fairly new Diplomat Bakery caught our attention. It would be the perfect place to stop, take a break, and warm up.
Our group wasn't the only one with that idea. Locals from the housing development, along with construction workers made the seating area quite busy. The staff seemed to know many of what appeared to be regulars. Orders were cheerfully filled, with plenty of yummy-looking choices of cakes, muffins, cookies, and other goodies, along with tasty-looking sandwiches and bunwiches displayed in the big glass display case to tempt customers.
Very nice neighbourhood bakery, and casual, light-meal restaurant. Well worth a visit…if you're not worried about gaining weight.
