We passed a week in Vancouver just before going on Cruise and a further two days on return. By the time we came back the staff were like old friends and made us feel very welcome. I completely agree with the other recent postings - in fact I would have written the same but its been done already. Lovely views of the city and the harbour. Clean, fresh , good gymn & pool area, terrace to sit out on if its sunny, which it was some of the time. Very handy for getting into Vancouver downtown via the River bus which takes about 15 minutes and is a fun trip in itself- For $2.50 London Transport eat your heart out!
Individual things we found: lots of lovely places to go to in and around Vancouver. Go up Grouse Mountain- eat at the top and you don't have to pay the $30 or so to go up the mountain- but pay just a little more for a very nice meal and that included a Lumberjack show as well. Check it on the internet and book in advance. Another similar deal is to be found in the circular tower restaurant that is in town- where you either pay to go up and admire the view or eat at the slightly high prices up there, but that includes the 360 viewing as it revolves.
Lynn Park; Dunderave (eat at the Boat house restaurant); Tea Room restaurant in Stanley Park is another good place to eat in the evening. A 'must visit' is the museum of Anthoropology (although it is some way out of town it is really a must do. Try and catch the free conducted tour to make sense of it) and the Bill Reid gallery. If you want to save on Breakfast go up Lonesdale Road about two blocks and there are some quite good coffee shops.
Going back to the holtel- North Vancouver might not be the first place you would think of staying as a new visitor to Vancouver- but at the Pinnacle by the Quay you can enjoy a neighbourhood something a bit less city like and get off to see all sorts, particularly if you rent a car for a couple of days.
