“Great seafood”
Reviewed 26 March 2014 via mobile

On short notice we chose the Fishworks for our evening meal and booked a reservation for the Friday night. Staff was quite accommodating and held a good table until we arrived from our short walk from the hotel. Upon arrival we were quickly presented our table and seated. A order of a dry gin martini took longer in the decision making, due to a healthy selection gin, than the ultimate presentation at the table. Appetizers consisted of crab cakes and crispy calamari. Once again the food that we received was brought promptly and was delicious. The mains arrived in due course and, as expected, was exceptionally good. The night progressed and the check eventually arrived. I would have to say we received good value a great meal and had an exceptional time.

“Great overall dining experience!”
Reviewed 5 March 2014

Our family loves to go to Fishworks!

I personally like their setting and atmosphere: high ceiling, spacious, quiet, and unpretentious. I love hanging out there and taking time to savour my meal. We always order the Seafood Platter with fresh oysters, mussels, prawns, and albacore tuna. The seafood is always fresh. The only thing we kind of missed in the last little while was the Seafood Tower they previously would give us when we ordered 5 orders of fresh seafood platter ($12 per person, 2 orders minimum). The ice shaving that was sculpted into a tower shape on which the various seafood would be placed was visually impressive. Nowadays, they served the food on two big plates. The amount of food and tastiness were the same, just didn't have the same "wow" effect.

The other night we had their sturgeon, stuffed sea bass (special of the night, exquisitely done), and Mac'n Cheese (Lobster and orzo). One of the desserts was poached pear with red wine and Early Grey reduction (very yummy combination) and ice cream. Of course, the fish shaped chocolate truffles at the end of every meal was always a great finish to a delicious meal. Their service is always friendly, casual, and efficient.

“Lower Lonsdale finally has a good seafood restaurant”
Reviewed 4 March 2014

Good food and service at this lower Lonsdale spot. So glad to have a decent fish spot on the North Shore after years without.

Lunched at Fishworks recently. They go the extra mile and they always give you a wonderful chocolate truffle at the end of the meal.

“Huge Mussels”
Reviewed 26 February 2014

I wnet there with my client and we ordered a pound of mussel with coconut and lemon glass sause to start with. The mussels were so large but they cook it just right. We were so tempted and ordered another pound although we already order our main course. The second one is with Frites, chorizo, tomato, basil. This is a bit heavy and i would prefer the first one. By the time the main course arrive, we were already 90% full but we did manage to finish half of it and took the rest home.

I went back couple of weeks later and ordered the third choice of the mussels, Sautéed garlic, lemon, fresh herbs. This one is too sour although the mussel itself is still good. I will only order coconut and lemon glass one in the future.

This will be my mussel place in the next while.
