Whether you're a lifelong local or a visitor to Vancouver for a few days, your life is not complete without a kayak outing in Deep Cove. This is the PERFECT place to enjoy some self propelled time on the water because it is so pristine and sheltered. The scenery is beautiful, the water crystal clear and the conditions cater to any skill level. New or timid kayakers can stay close to home along the shores of Deep Cove where there are no waves. More adventurous folks can venture out across Indian Arm and even take a tent and camp on one of the islands out there. Don't be surprised if a friendly seal pops up beside you to say hi.

The business itself is very well run. I learned to kayak here and they made the experience fun and easy. Later I took lessons from them and gained quite a bit of confidence thanks to my friendly, competent instructor. The rental gear is all in great shape. You can literally show up in just shorts and a t-shirt and they will outfit you with everything you need. That said, you'll enjoy the experience more if you bring a change of clothes. Trust me, if you go in the middle of summer and it gets hot, you may not be able to resist "dumping" your kayak and going for a quick swim.

One tip: If you go out into Indian Arm, the tidal current can make your return to shore a little more difficult than you bargained for. The attendant will advise you of the timing and direction of the tide. Pay attention and you'll be thankful.

We have wanted to try kayaking for years. We first went on the 3-hour tour of deep cove with a guide and then decided to come back and take the rec level 1 and 2 course. Both were great. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable and so was our instructor for the course. This was a great introduction to kayaking with excellent service by friendly, helpful, patient, and experienced staff.

Grab a couple Kayaks, singles or doubles a get out for a spectacular paddle. Breathtaking scenery. Afterwards plenty of picnic spots available in Panorama Park and pretty clean and tidy. After lunch be sure to head up the lookout point at the end of Panorama Drive. It is a good climb but it can be done with relative ease by up to 70 year old. Another spectacular view from the top.

Helpful friendly staff are ample and fully brief you about the canoes, safety etc. All good!

We have rented kayaks from DCCK a number of times and we really like the service and style. It is pretty relaxed except for making sure you are going to be safe. The beach crew makes sure people get the basics down before they paddle off and help you back in when you are done.
It is a really busy location, but they seem to have enough staff to keep everything flowing and a number of strategies that make sure you get out on the water.
Now just don't expect to find parking at their door. On summer days, the whole area can get a little congested, but a 5 minute walk away parking can always be found.
Of course the paddling is the reason you are there and Deep Cove and Indian Arm provide a great mix of looking at various houses perched on the sea shore, sea life, mountains, and areas with few inhabitants. It is also a great training area to improve your paddling skills whether kayak, surf ski or Stand Up Paddleboard. The 2 hour standard rental time is just right for most paddlers.
