“Great visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 February 2014

We stayed in October 2013 for a couple of nights during our wine tour. I am really bad with directions and map reading so got a bit lost getting to the motel, I phoned and was provided with instructions to get there. We had a basic suite, it was wonderful, lots of dishes, utensils and it was very clean. The owners referred us to a number of great local restaurants, the best was withing walking distance. The restaurant is so appreciative of their guests and treated us with wonderful service. The only thing was I did not read the notice that the housekeeping is not done daily, the owners kindly replaced the towels I had left in the bathbub. Thank you for making our visit so smooth.

Thank you for your review! We appreciate all feedback from our guests, so we can make your stay more enjoyable next time. You weren't the only one who got lost coming here in October as we had major construction on our main access road into the motel. I apologize for the inconvenience. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Hopefully your next visit will be even smoother!
Thanks again.

We stayed in Late July in a 1 bedroom suite on the water. Nothing but good things to say. Clean quiet. Hosts which were the owners were very friendly and helpful. Everything we needed was in the room and more. Liked the deck. We were on the second floor so we overlooked the beach. Great for sipping a drink and looking at the scenery. Just across the street is the Sage Pub which we thought was great for food and drinks and it also have a beer and wine store attached. Was nice to have a few drinks with dinner or mabe a few more because we knew we didn't have to drive. Nice public water front beach area nearby which made for a nice walk. Don't know how anyone could have a bad thing to say about this place or the people. This place is more than a motel so don't let the name stop you from checking it out. I have been to Osoyoos 15 consecutive years, had seen the motel before and never thought much of it. Glad we finally checked it out a little closer. Will be my new first choice while visiting Osoyoos.

Our first stay at this facility was May 2013. We booked the one bedroom Lakeview Suite. Aside from the terrible internet reception and bedsheets that are clearly washed in industrial strength detergent (sheets were sandpaper rough), the location is exceptional and it is a very very clean, quiet motel. We booked this facility for a wine tour in September for four middle-age, professional, responsible couples. Three of the couples booked the 3 bedroom/2 bathroom Lakeview Suite, which consists of a king-size master bedroom/ensuite, and two Queen bedrooms. Note, this is the most expensive suite in the entire facility. The remaining couple booked a regular room in the main part of the motel. As soon as we entered the 3-bedroom suite, it wreaked of stale sweat. Unless all doors/windows opened, you couldn't get rid of smell. Only time we didn't smell it was when we were cooking. Despite the suite having a full kitchen, there were no basic condiments (salt/pepper) and it was never conveyed that the owners would provide same. The maximum occupancy for the 3 bedroom/2 bathroom suite is two people...so each additional guest was charged $10 per night, an additional $40 a night. Why anyone would book a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom suite for just two people defies common sense. Because of the very rough sheets, everyone brought a top sheet to sleep on - and a good thing as sheets in all beds were VERY rough. First indication of how unaccommodating hosts were was the second night after we came back from dinner to find the parking lot full, except for two handicap spots, leaving one of the vehicles without a parking spot. Brent tells registered guest to park on street - as he was saving a handicap spot for a guest who would be checking in late. So despite fact we were already registered and they were not expecting any guests requiring handicap privileges, he would not allow vehicle to park in the remaining handicap spot. Then Brent informs us that the hotel has a ONE PARKING SPOT per unit policy. Huh? Staying in the most expensive suite on the property - three times cost of regular unit - which is clearly designed for minimum six adults and only one parking spot per unit? Thoroughly checked website later and could not find a parking policy recorded anywhere. Sherry then joined the discussion and determined that some of the vehicles parked in the motel parking lot belonged to visitors of motel guests. Her solution at 10pm was to knock on all the doors of the motel to find the visitors and ask them to move their vehicles. Not wanting to disrupt all the guests, decided to park out in the street. Brent then complains to the guest parking on the street - in a very long canopied truck, to angle park his vehicle - which if he did would have meant the vehicle would have been jutting out into traffic on the very narrow street. And it's street parking, not overflow hotel parking, so Brent has no say on how someone parks in the street. Lastly, there are gas BBQs located throughout the facility, secured right against the buildings, for guest use. You can't move the BBQs away from the walls of the building as they are locked in place. We used the BBQ our last morning there and unfortunately some bacon caught on fire, which was quickly, safely extinguished. (One of the members of our party is a firefighter). A small, faint grey mark ended up on side of building. Sherry came out and angrily stated we would have to pay to repaint the building. And yet there was a 2-ft. black soot mark on the wall behind the BBQ located directly across from the office. Given the manner in which we were treated, we will not be returning to this facility nor recommend it to any friends/associates. Which is too bad, because the location is spectacular. But quality of service is just as important as location.

Room Tip: Stay at Spirit Ridge Resort & Spa just down the road For their 2-bedroom/2 bathroom suite, the...

We are sorry that you were unhappy with your second stay with us, but are very approachable and would have liked to have the chance to respond to your queries.
Our rates are clearly laid out on our website, and all our suites are based on double occupancy. We have had two people rent the three bedroom deluxe suite, and this
policy allows us to keep our prices down in accordance with the number of people
in the suite.
All motels in the town of Osoyoos are required to have one parking stall per
motel room regardless of the number of bedrooms. The overflow parking across the street at Sandy Beach Motel is owned by Sandy Beach. The handicapped stalls by the office are not very accommodating for oversized trucks. There was a guest that overheard our conversation and offered to move their vehicle across the street to accommodate your wine cargo, but yet you refused the offer.
Our room amenities are more than sufficient. BC Accommodation
Approved motels cannot have salt and pepper containers in the room as it may be contaminated between guests. We do supply them to guests who ask for them.
The new building, where the deluxe suites are in, are wired to strict electrical code which requires that each suite has ventilation fans operated by timers that keep air from
becoming stagnant.
We are very safety conscious at Sandy Beach with the use of barbeques and find it ironic why someone would cook bacon on an open flame grill causing large flare ups.
Our linens are hotel quality, but are not sateen 800 thread count sheets. We are
reassessing our laundry practices in order counteract the very hard water we have in Osoyoos.
All the best to you in your travels in the future!

My family arrived on Dec 26th to stay for 3 nights. It is right on the beach and very close to everything you may want to see while in Osoyoos. We stayed in a 2 bedroom Lakeview suite and found it very comfortable with the 2 bedrooms. A nice couch, TV and a kitchen with every pot, bowl and pan that you could ever dream of. Fantastic atmosphere as most of the people who are there are Snowbirds. Would stay again for sure!!

We stayed here for 2 nights. The rooms are roomy comfortable and clean. The property is centrally located and right on the lake shore, close to eateries and a pub- serving great food as well.
The management is wonderful and very helpful.

This is the most wonderful place to stay, the cleanliness is second to none, the warm hospitality of the owners is beyond words. The rooms are so clean, the owners do everything in their power to accommodate all of our needs. Gave us salt & pepper, steak spice, anything we needed and had forgotten. They treat every guest like it's their only guest, not sure how they have the time to talk with everybody and still get all of their work done but they do!! At any given time you see both Brent and Sherry bustling around, checking guests in, cleaning, giving advice as to the best eateries, garages, just everything.

Brent & Sherry need to give lessons to all other motel/hotel owners across this country as to how a motel should be run and how to treat their guests. They make it hard to stay anywhere else as their standards just cannot be met and believe me we have stayed in a lot of places. I have to say it again, the cleanliness is what so impressed us.

Room Tip: Just tell Sherry what you are looking for and she will show you the rooms and give you the best she...

Ideal Motel & Location for Health Trip

I would strongly recommend this motel, particularly to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Okanagan for health reasons. As “Canada’s only desert”, it’s a dry environment that is ideal for anyone getting away from allergies or for other health-related reasons – it’s an excellent place for a “locations effect” experiment.

I stayed here for 2 weeks this fall after carefully doing my homework beforehand. This motel is exactly as advertised on their website – not one unpleasant surprise. The buildings and grounds are meticulously maintained. You can’t beat the location right on the beach with its view directly north onto the lake – a view that each unit has. The second floor units have balconies that provide your own outdoor space, a very nice plus. The units have a full-sized fridge, stove and well-equipped kitchen. Everything is absolutely clean, including the dishes, cutlery, pots & pans. After one week, housekeeping came in, which was just the right timing. It’s easy to sweep up after yourself given the ceramic floors and so you really don’t need daily housekeeping (although you can opt for it separately if you wish) and then you are not disturbed at all. I am sensitive to chemicals and so the unit was aired out for me before my arrival – no scented air fresheners required.

If you are female and staying on your own, you feel added security because the owners live on the property as well. Brent and Sherry are just fantastic, as is their staff. They are professional, friendly and infinitely helpful, incredibly hard-working. When they say you’re considered family, they mean it!

The other guests were respectful of one another and so the atmosphere was very comfortable and relaxed. I met guests who have returned annually for 8 years, and I heard of others who were also staying for health reasons. If I ever get the chance to return, I will.
