Walnut Beach Resort
Ranked #5 of 26 Hotels in Osoyoos
Reviewed 6 October 2013

Booked at the tourist office when we arrived in Osoyoos and was told hotel was very good. The room wasn't bad - large, clean and had a view of lake (and air con units on garage roof) but that did at least mean it was reasonably quiet. We were there in late July/early August when it was full of families and children so we were aware of noise from next room (not too awful) but we did make the mistake of eating outside near the pool in the evening. This was VERY noisy with children jumping in and out of the pool and screaming. As darkness fell, they obviously thought that they were even less visible to the parents as it got even louder. Some sort of curfew or recommendation re noise in the pool would be a good idea!
Service was only so-so both at pool and reception. Didn't really feel that we got what we paid for.

Room Tip: Depends on your priority - overlooking the pool is likely to be noisy in high summer - an upper room...

We visit this resort several times a year. The suite was well appointed, clean, well serviced. The food was amazing. The staff are courteous and helpful. At last they have removed the trees blocking the lake view - good move. A firm favourite - we will return in the spring.

Room Tip: Now that the trees have been removed all the rooms advertised as lake view actually have a lake view...

This is a beautiful hotel, right on the lake with a great pool, nice beach, and very comfortable surroundings. We would define it as the most luxurious in the Osoyoos area and it is located in the best spot. The rooms are fairly large and each has a small kitchen. The king size bed was very comfortable, The view from those rooms that overlook the lake is spectacular. This is a great spot to use as a base to explore the many wineries in the region and we would not hesitate to go again.

Room Tip: The best rooms are overlooking the lake. Some look back over the highway.

Stayed here for a night. Service was helpful and friendly. Pool and jacuzzi was great and overlooked the lake. Rooms were nice and clean-we had a studio kitchen. Location is about the best of the high quality places around town-on the less busy side of the lake and right on the lake. We would definitely stay here again.

Clean room, great views, awesome atmosphere. Our first stay was in April for one night. And we fell in love with the resort. We are visiting again very soon. It's our absolute favorite place to stay at all times:)

We recently went as a group of 4 in a Sauvignon One BR Mountanview room.

The room is really nice - clean carpets, beautiful kitchen with everything you'll need (dishwasher, full fridge, microwave, oven, stove etc.
The layout of the room is open-concept with little bar stools on the other side of the kitchen counter which is great for cooking and drinking at the same time! haha

We used the pull out sofa bed for my two girlfriends and my boyfriend and I used the bedroom. The washroom is super clean (minus a few spiders but I guess that's normal considering it's mating season for them).

The location is awesome - it's a private beach with a private dock so it's nice and quiet for the most part. There is a lady who rents out paddle boards, float mat, jet skis, and even power boat right on the property beach so it's really convenient for those who want to do water activities. The beach/pool chairs are nice but they could use a little more maintenance - there were so many cobwebs and old dry leaves stuck to everything including the beach umbrellas. Nothing looks that old or overused but again the resort could work on maintaining the appearance/cleanliness of their stuff.

The BBQ grills are great - we made fresh BBQ foods for both nights that we were there, the resort didn't seem too busy which was nice so we never had trouble getting a grill to use.

The only gripe I have is not necessarily the resort's fault but there were so many children at this resort. I knew it was a family resort before we booked but I didn't expect there to be so many (They mainly occupied the pool) which was pretty annoying when we were trying to relax in the pool with our floaties. I'm not really a children kind of person so this was extra annoying for me.

Wi-fi is terrible here, tried to watch youtuve videos on my iPAD and it was nearly impossible.

We would come back here - price is a little high for what you're getting so we will probably wait next time for special promotions or pick a date that is a little more affordable.

We enjoyed our 4 days at Walnut Beach with our young kids - they loved the pool and the hot tubs, and were happy to spend time at the beach/lake. Our suite was comfortable for a family of 4, and waking up to a lake view was very pretty. We were a last minute booking so our suite overlooked the restaurant BBQ kitchen - try avoid, it gets noisy with food smells wafting in. Our one disappointment was our dinner at the outdoor restaurant, because they seemed understaffed and one of the meals came out cold - a poor show when you are charging $25 for a main course.
