Lakeview Motel & Suites
Ranked #8 of 26 Hotels in Osoyoos
Reviewed 15 July 2013

We ended our 10 days vacation in Osoyoos and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lakeview Motel. Our hosts, Sandra and Derrick were very welcoming and helpful. The location is fabulous with the beach right across the street and walking distance to restaurants, shops and bars. Our room had a separate bedroom and full kitchenette which was great to have. The pool at the motel is fabulous and they also have several barbeques available for guests. It was a quiet location and the beds were very, very comfortable. We will definitely go back and recommend it to our friends and family. Great accommodation for all ages and either singles or people with kids.

My wife and I are very pleased that you found our Motel to your liking. Our motel(Lakeview) is situated on 89th Street down by the lake, very close to a nice clean beach with its attractive tree lined park for added shade during our long hot days.
Our kitchen units and BBQ,s are excellent for families and for guests who dont want to go out every night to restraurants and maybe eat supper outside while the children play in the pool.
As you say we are a very short level walk to the town itself and we are away from the hustle and noise of motel''Alley"" on the other side of the lake.We are glad that you enjoyed yourself and were able to unwind after you hectic 10 day break.Hope to see you again. Thanks again.

I am a little surprised by the rave reviews this property has. There was nothing particularly wrong with it, but nothing outstanding either. Very basic motel fare, probably adequate for families but definitely not a romantic getaway. We enjoyed having a kitchen and it had the bare necessities but not a thing more (ie: napkins or paper towels, salt and pepper shakers/packets, saran wrap would have been nice). The barbeque area was fantastic - certainly saved some money by making dinner and eating at one of the picnic tables and the small pool was clean and warm enough.
My biggest complaints would be 1. lumpy foam-chunk filled pillows - terrible 2. very noisy air conditioning 3. lighting in room - fluorescent lights gave the room a very unappealing ambience.
On the very positive side, the owners kindly allowed us to stay after check out (10:30) by the pool
so we got a bit of extra R&R in.

We are very happy that you found our motel to your likeing. My wife and I take great pride in our motel.
We supply clean wash cloths and tea towels to every room.We used to supply our rooms wirth paper napkins and kitchen rolls,I am sorry to say that guests would take them when they left ,hence, we stopped suppling them.We also supplied salt and pepper shakers but the BC health department put so may restrictions on their use we also stopped, but we do have a supply in the office which we hand out.
The fluerecent lighting is something we are changing,we are now about half way through the lighting up grade,as for the pillows,we do agree with you and we will be changing them.
Thank you for your comments on the pool as we have spent a lot of money on that this year.
As for the romantic getaway, well, my wife and I feel as if we are on a permnament romantic getaway here and do not feel the need to pay for a 5 star resort to enjoy ourselves.
We hope that you will stay again with us and enjoy our nice ,clean facilities.
Thank you

My overnight stay was during a solo wine tour of some South Okanagan wineries. The fairly recent owners were busy updating the property and were clearly committed to the improvement. They still had time to recommend wineries, give directions, and offer information on tours: very personable. The room was comfortable and basic and tidy; all was in good working order. The pool was clean and well maintained. They are within an easy stroll to the lakeshore and a short walk to the main street for restaurants. You could pay more in other places and get less. Recommended.

I am glad that you enjoyed your short stay with us in Osoyoos and the Lakeview Motel. We do keep our motel well maintained and encourage our guests to tell us if something is not right in the rooms as we are more than happy to rectify deficiencies.
We have also had a city permit to build an upper tier deck for the 2014 season which will be nice for the upstairs guests.Thank you again for your kind words,we really appreciate them.

We only stayed there for one night and we had a good deal. The room is bright and clean. And the host is very friendly and helpful. He gave us good tips about where to eat and which wineries are good. Will definitely recommend this motel to friends.

My husband and I recently spent two nights at the Lakeview Motel with a vintage car group touring the area. This was not our first time at the Lakeview however the current owners Derrick and Sandra have made extensive improvements and updates so we were pleasantly surprised and impressed. It was like coming to a different motel. They made us welcome from the moment of check in and it truly was like staying with friends. The BBQ and picnic tables were perfect for our group dinners and the pool was awesome for a relaxing swim or lounging and visiting. The location is perfect, a short walk to the beach or to downtown and a great view of the mountains. Our room was well laid out, a full size fridge and coffee maker, tile flooring, comfortable bed and ample space for our gear. The rates are good and I was interested to learn that they offer special monthly rates for winter getaways. We look forward to our next visit, it would be a perfect location for a family get together in sunny Osoyoos.

Room Tip: We were in 103 on the lower level with two queen beds. Some rooms had one bed and a couch and full...

Thank you for your kind words. It was really nice to see the row of vintage cars lined up in our car park,we will post some picutres on our web page that Sion took.

Your group were great, even the children got invloved and I am sure it will be a night to remember with the fires raging across the valley and the aircraft flying over dropping water.
We do make improvements to the motel every year and keep it up to date,we will be building a new deck for 2014 if we can get a building permit.
Thank you and your group for staying with us at Lakeview and we hope that you will return on your next road trip.(Without the fires)

We stayed here a few weeks ago and are very pleased with our choice. A lovely couple from manitoba now run the place, and they've done an amazing job with the place. The room we were in had nice tile floors which I believe is the plan for all rooms eventually. there was a flat screen tv, fridge, microwave, reasonably sized bathroom, sitting area and nice comfy beds. Just outside the room were two chairs where we sat and had our meals. One thing I failed to notice when we checked in is that they have several bbq's right outside the rooms that guests can use so bring food! That alone, would be a reason to stay here! For family's and friends alike, this place makes a great base while enjoying Canada's paradise that is Osoyoos! We didn't try the pool, but it was clean and looked really inviting. There were some nice little touches in the room as well, such as the cute sailor shower curtains which looked to have been homemade! I've stayed a few other places in Osoyoos, and I'm happy to say that I've found my home away from home. The best part about Lakeview is the owners. They will come and sit with you and chat away. They are absolutely hilarious people! We had so much fun. You literally are a part of the family when you stay here. I can honestly say, in all of the hotels I've stayed at, I've never felt more at home. Well done!

Room Tip: Use the BBQ's!!!

As owners of the Lakeview we do try and make guests(friends)feel at home.We came from Manitoba to Osoyoos and purchased the LAKEVIEW with our three children. Our guests feel this is a special place as we did when we first came here, and we still feel its special. Our Motel is not big and fancy,we only have 20 rooms therefore we can offer a personal service which is lacking in coroprate resorts and hotels. We might not have the fitness centers, pool side bar or fancy restraurants, but,we do offer friendly, personal service which our guests like.
Thank you again for staying with us.

My husband and I came up from Washington state for Memorial Day weekend, having never been to Osoyoos. We picked Lakeview based on the great reviews here. Lakeview is a wonderful, small family run place with a natural and easy style of customer service. Everyone is a friend at Lakeview and we were treated like family. My husband is from the north of England and Derrick and Sandra are Welsh, so they had a great time laughing and telling stories about back home (and why my husband does not like Coronation Street!).

We spent Friday and Sunday at Lakeview, so we had two different rooms, 104 and 101. Both have very nice new kitchens, and both rooms were immaculately clean. We liked 101 best because it was a bit larger, accommodating a couch with a short corridor where we could store our bikes. There are grills and picnic tables just outside and near the office so it was handy for sitting and chatting. They gave us great advice on the drive up to Penticton for Saturday night (up the east side rather than on 97). We had told Sandra on Friday how much we liked poutine (can't get it in the states) and when we returned on Sunday evening, she had made some for us while she cooked dinner for the family. Wow, there's real hospitality! And we really enjoyed just visiting and chatting. We'll definitely be back. Too bad about the beer in town, but you can't have everything! Thanks Derrick and Sandra!

Room Tip: We liked 101, a more spacious layout than others, with a couch and corridor for bikes and bags. Also...
