“Uncomfortable room and grotty little beach”

We stayed in a VERY small room that wasn't clean. Didn't see the larger suites and assumed they must have been much nicer (in light of the other great reviews?). Our room was dark and not at all inviting and was probably the most uncomfortable bed I have ever had the misfortune to sleep on. "Resort" location was quiet but the beach was postage stamp-sized, crowded with no where to sit and too many boats and water craft running around.

Extremely over priced for a complete lack of basic services.

Our family have stayed at Destiny beach resort several times over the past 5 years and have always found the owners (Judy and Don) and the support staff go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The rooms are clean and the private beach is awesome. You have to stay there to understand, "a piece of paradise".

I will now heap praise on the Destiny Beach Resort, reluctantly, because one hates to create competition for rooms in a small resort. However, fairness compels me.

I just returned from three nights and four days in Osoyoos. My brother booked six rooms at this place for a family reunion/cum 80th birthday bash for Mother. For the (pre June 1st) price of $60, I didn't expect anything special, but we were thoroughly blown away by the location, the amenities in the rooms and the relaxed and trusting nature of the owners.

How often do you arrive at a hotel/motel to read on the office door - "Gone to dinner - rooms 3, 7 and 10 available - settle in and pay later"? Rarely were the rooms locked. The rooms themselves mostly had an adjoining room with a couple of single beds. The kitchenettes had all the extras, including microwave, good-sized fridge, stove, well-stocked cutlery including a corkscrew and other items. The room also had a gas-fired stove, a queen-sized bed, a dining room table and a sliding glass and screen doors leading to the common areas.

There were many congregation areas for guests to sit and chat, from the area near the pool and outside the rooms - generous numbers of tables and chairs, three or four barbecue grills for the guests, as well as a group of tables and comfortable chairs and dart board near the wharf. And we had a wonderful time after sunset, chatting around the firepit (well-stocked with wood) and the waterside gazebo.

All in all, it was a terrific place to stay for a few days; my partner pleaded with me to stay another day - a sure sign that the amenities and the ambience were thoroughly pleasing.

The owners, Don and Judy, were very friendly, accommodating and unobtrusive. Don mentioned that he enjoyed the business because he "loves people." It shows.

I cannot comment on the negative review submitted, but we could not have been more pleased with the reality of the Destiny Beach Resort. And we are not even related to the owners!

If you're tired of the sterility of the typical accommodations offered by the multinationals, give this one a try. I'm sure, like us, you'll be converted in no time at all. It really is special!

Has the potential to be a wonderful resort. Management have preferential treatment - give differing answers regarding refund policies to varying customers. Switch rooms without consulting customers. From personal experience - we normally would book for the following year i.e. 2004 in 2003. Due to job layoffs and other hardships had to cancel reservations. I gave them almost nine months notice and they will not refund my deposit - even under the circumstances. I have emailed them and received receipt that the emails were read three times and each time I have asked them to reply to no avail. Bottom line is management knows they can easily rent out their suites from one summer to the next without any problems, in fact there is a waiting list. As this is the case they do not value even loyal customers since we are a dime a dozen. It is extremely unfortunate since the resort and its owner could potentially be a wonderful business to deal with.

You just can't tell from their webpages ( ... ) how fabulous this motel/resort is!! Off-season (now! week of May 25 to June 1) we got a one bedroom suite for $60. a night.....with 2 queen beds in the bedroom and a hide-a-bed in the livingroom...plus a full equipped kitchen and bath with shower....plus a large balcony with patio set and a gas barbecue. This resort is right on Osoyoos Lake (the warmest lake in Canada) and we've been in swimming already!...in May, no less!! They have a lovely gazebo and also a patio by the water. I think it compares to anything we've experienced in Puerto Vallarta or in Belize! This place is family run and everyone has been super friendly. At this place they just offer that extra touch in every way that makes all the difference! My family and I can't help but HIGHLY recommend the Destiny Beach resort!
