“Not so great first impression, but...ok.”
Reviewed 19 August 2012

Seemed a little pricey to me. We were tenting and we found the campground to be designed to serve trailers and motoromes better than tents. All the sites around us had electrical and water hookups that were included. We needed an adapter for the plug and they rent them and sell them there.
The sites are very very small. When we arrived, we didn't know how big our site was, and someone passing by in a golf cart came up to us and told us how much room we could use. We started putting up our tent and some neighbors told us that was a children's play area and pointed out the boundary of our site. I noticed that everyone seemed to be overlapping into others sites, so we used about the size of our tent in the "play" area. No one minded.
Oddly enough, in our site, we had two adults, a five year old, a three year old and a 20mth child. Our friends had two adults, one six year old and one 11 month old. They had to pay more for their six year old.
The campground itself was very clean and the garbage area was very organized.
There really wasn't alot of beach access, and the only access we found was a stretch of beach about 60 feel long. It was ok though, cause we spent alot of time in the water.
They do have public toilets and they have showers too. The showers cost $1 for about 5 min.
Don't forget your coffee, they have ground coffee there that will cost you your first born child!
They do rent boats and have an attractive bistro cafe there too.
Our trip was cut very short due to a hospital trip due to dehydration and three of the adults getting sick. No, nothing that was caused by the campground.
We left late the second night, and we had reservations for 5 nights. They have a huge sign in the office saying no refunds. When our friend returned the next day to return the adapter plug we rented, they said they felt sorry for us and offered us a two day refund each.
Everyone that works there is super nice, and I'd probably stay there again.

Didn't even get to stay here. I should have been forewarned by previous reviews.
I emailed the rv resort to book 2 nights stay on August 4th and 5th 2012. I received a very promising email stating "We definitely have availability for your requested dates". I picked the phone up immediately but no one answered, so I left a voice message stating that I wished to book the two nights. Six hours later I receive a call to say that the sites have now all been given away??? What happened to my "definitely available"? The fellow who called back could only say sorry, that he had just come in and was returning the phone calls. I asked what I could have done differently to secure the spot and he had no answer, only to say it's a busy weekend. So if people are lazy and don't do there jobs and return calls prompto it's your problem not theirs. Glad I didn't spend $$ for this place if this is how they run things.

We recently completed approximately 12 days at this campground. From the start it was clear there was NO customer service presennt! We were originally in the new section of the campground and were NOT advised that the showers were not working or that the cable was not working. On the plus side, we were able to move to a shadier site a few days later. The campground has a major problem with theft! BEWARE! They do not adivise you of this upon checkin. Upon speaking with several seasoned campers, it was evident that it is and has been an ongoing issue for many years. The supposed security at this campground is a joke! No attempt from what I seen was made to police the campground in any way shape or form! It is too big and very impersonal. While Osoyoos is a beatiful area, our family will not be back to this campground. This is the first time ever that I have written a review so you have to know I feel very strongly about our experience. I would strongly recommend one of the other campgrounds on Lakeshore drive or perhaps in Penticton.

Thanks kindly for taking the time to read.

I was absolutely livid when we arrived at NK'Mip. I am going to try to point out all the good things here before I go off on them.

Osoyoos is an awesome town. You are pretty much guaranteed HOT and SUNNY here when it's raining everywhere else. NK'Mip campground is very well maintained. The maintenance staff really do an excellent job keeping up the place. There are no dumpsters for you to take your garbage to, if you can leave your garbage at the end of the site and within an hour one of the staff members have driven by and collected the garbage. Awesome!

We originally emailed 2 weeks before our vacation to see if we could reserve a 'WATERFRONT' campsite. We said we were flexible with our days if they could fit us into a waterfront location on such short notice. To our surprise, they wrote back and said 'our request was available'. We called right away to reserve and mentioned again, that we wanted to be right on the water AND we called the day before to confirm. We packed up the equipment, the kids and drove for 6 hours. We get there and they sign us into a site that is in behind RV after RV after RV. When we questioned the woman, she rolled her eyes at me and said they never guarantee waterfront. It's first come first served. We pulled out the confirmation email and again all we get from them is "We don't reserve waterfront". We are now stuck here and the closest sand for our kids to play at is a 12 minute walk to the boat launch. I believe that the staff will tell you anything they want to get you there and there is nowhere else to go after you arrive. We also talked to numerous people here who had similar stories and were very upset with the way they treat you. They do not try to accommodate you at all. Someone else said that they nickel and dime you for everything here. (this is true: we had to pay extra per night per child)

Two other things: LOTS of car traffic here and most of it is large RV's and trucks pulling boats. They have 10 kmh signs posted but there were a lot of speeders. Not the safest for young kids but I hear there is less traffic up at the top of the mountain. Also lock up your stuff. Our ski tube was stolen out of our boat on our last night.

We booked sites with friends in March for our July stay. There was a 5-night minimum, even though we were not staying that long we were ok with it because it was lakefront over a long weekend. Our friends arrived 2 days prior to us to learn that our lake front sites all had a 3’ drop off into the water. As we all have small kids our friends requested that we be moved to different sites so that the kids would be safe. By the time we arrived 2 days later they had managed to get us sites side by side, after some serious negotiating and follow up. While we were happy to be beside our friends the sites were pretty terrible. We were located at the epi- center of the campsite (where the main entrance road diverges into the smaller lanes & right be the general store) Not ideal for me... but we were ok with it and prepared to live with it because we were with friends. Things were fine for the first ½ day until the rain came (no big deal we have camped in the rain before and all of us were in trailers). The problem was that we were at a low point in the site (from the road divergence and the lay of the land) and we ended up with several inches of rain in our 3 campsites. The staff provided us with a push broom to get rid of the water. (not really that helpful) When the second set of showers hit the flood only grew.... We ended up 6” of rain in our site (not an exaggeration. See attached pictures)
Later that night after we had dried off, and were ready for bed (11.30) the neighbors still had music playing quite loudly (we were 3 sites over). I ended up walking over to ask them to please turn it down. (we wanted to sleep and didn’t want the kids to wake up) Not sure what happened to the "family campsite no loud noise after 10 rule." We never saw/ heard security once. Our friends advised that it had been just as noisy through the previous nights and that they had never seen security come around.
The following morning we went to speak to the office folks to see what could be done to make good of the situation. The manager (?) was less than accommodating and insinuated that the water in our site was our fault because we had tried putting rocks up to stop it and had we not done that the water would have gone somewhere else. (I asked where but she was unable to answer that question). In the end she refunded us $25 from our bill. ($50 non refundable deposit + $90- $25 = $115 for 1 night of camping)
In the end it was our choice to leave and loose out the money we had paid, but given the lack of customer service and the crappy sites we were in, we did not want to stay nor ever return for that matter.

If you typically do provincial parks, you may be surprised at how things go at Nk'Mip. Sites are at a premium, we have two weeks lakefront that we have to reserve for the following year when we leave to secure our site and the time frame. They are tiny sites but suit us fine, there are about 30 of us that go every year. We have had problems with our reservations but Dakota has always done her best to assist us and fix the problems! Our summer vacation there starts in 2 weeks and we can't wait. It will be our 4th year at Nk'Mip.
