Desert Surfside Waterfront Accomodations
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Our visit to the Desert Surfside was from July 1 – July 5. We have been visiting Osoyoos for years and have stayed at many different properties and types of accommodations throughout the area but this was our first time at the Desert Surfside. This property is a smaller than several others along the Main Street strip but in our opinion that is a plus. The property is in a good location within easy walking distance to shops, stores, and restaurants in and around town.

We stayed 3 nights in a deluxe one bedroom suite on the 4th floor which had a nice size balcony, partial lake view and a barbecue. This suite is not large but certainly adequate with a full kitchen with all appliances and accessories. There is a small kitchen table with 4 chairs and a small sitting area with sofa which I believe can be converted to a bed. The separate bedroom is small but large enough to wedge in a queen size bed.
The suite was clean and in good repair with the exception of a few of the furniture pieces in the sitting area that were a bit rough and worn.
We decided to stay an extra night but were unable to keep the one bedroom suite due to another booking. We spoke to the staff and they provided several other room options for the additional night. As it was just for the 1 extra night we decided to stay in one of the studio suites. This suite again was clean and fully outfitted but quite a bit smaller that the one bedroom suite that we came from. If you’re just over - nighting it’s more than sufficient but if you are choosing to stay for several days or more you might find the studio suite too small.

The property grounds are well maintained and very clean with a nice patio area including barbecues and tables at the back of the property in a common area beachside. Lots of chairs, loungers, and umbrellas available for beach area. Beach is clean and access to the lake is easy.

The staff members were excellent. Sorry that we didn’t get their names but anyone that we interacted with was courteous, friendly and professional.
One thing that you might want to keep in mind is that there is no daily housekeeping provided. That was just fine for us but others may want this type of service.

This was a very good first stay at the Desert Surfside and we will certainly consider returning.

Room Tip: Beach front rooms look like they would be great if you can secure.

Good location, easy walking distance to restaurants, pub, grocery store and downtown shops. Located right on the beach with a nice grassed area and community bbq's. Owners keep beach very well maintained and are the nicest people. Very accommodating. I would come back just for the friendliness of the owners! I stayed in a studio suite. Room was clean, well maintained and had large patio door which was awesome to let in air and the sun. Well stocked full kitchen with everything you need. Flat screen TV with DVD player. Front desk has good selection of DVD's to enjoy. There is no daily housekeeping but they will exchange towels daily if you need. I didn't mind that there was no daily housekeeping, I don't need to pay extra to have somebody make bed daily. Very impressed overall, would expect prices to be much higher. Only complaint is that wifi is poor-average at times. I will definitely be back to stay soon

It's in a great location, walking distance to restaurants and shopping & right on the beach. The property management team is friendly and accommodating, and it's a great price. I've had friends that have stayed at a number locations in the area and this one is the only one that has the whole package- price location and great service! It's a yearly destination for me.

Another Winter at Desert Surfside. Clean and comfortable
accommodation, with stunning views and the mildest winter
weather in Canada. Not to leave out the warmest welcome
from Isy and Vic, who manage Desert Surfside with a perfect
balance between a well run business and a friendly family
atmosphere.
Every request is happily taken care of without delay.

I am pleased to share my positive experience at the Desert Surfside. Our room was clean and the grounds were well kept, but the thing that impressed us most was the excellent customer service. I had an especially welcoming experience with Isy at the front desk ,who provided us with information about the area, and things we must do while on our short stay. This was a vey enjoyable stay.

We only stayed one night but wouldn't have a problem staying longer. We had a kitchenette which would have been handy. The staff were very helpful and friendly . It seemed a bit odd to me that the only way to access the unit was through the sliding patio door.

Room Tip: Ask for a beachside room.

We stayed at this hotel for a week period in July for a family vacation. We have two young girls (4 1/2 and 2 years old) and I must say that this was the perfect hotel and location for us. We were staying in a one bedroom suite which included a full kitchen. There was a sofa/bed in the common area which was perfect for our daughters. The room was very simple but we had everything we needed, especially the A/C. There is free Wifi service and BBQ's in a common area by the beach. Very friendly and helpful staff. The bonus is the private beach which is AWESOME!
