Our visit to the Desert Surfside was from July 1 – July 5. We have been visiting Osoyoos for years and have stayed at many different properties and types of accommodations throughout the area but this was our first time at the Desert Surfside. This property is a smaller than several others along the Main Street strip but in our opinion that is a plus. The property is in a good location within easy walking distance to shops, stores, and restaurants in and around town.
We stayed 3 nights in a deluxe one bedroom suite on the 4th floor which had a nice size balcony, partial lake view and a barbecue. This suite is not large but certainly adequate with a full kitchen with all appliances and accessories. There is a small kitchen table with 4 chairs and a small sitting area with sofa which I believe can be converted to a bed. The separate bedroom is small but large enough to wedge in a queen size bed.
The suite was clean and in good repair with the exception of a few of the furniture pieces in the sitting area that were a bit rough and worn.
We decided to stay an extra night but were unable to keep the one bedroom suite due to another booking. We spoke to the staff and they provided several other room options for the additional night. As it was just for the 1 extra night we decided to stay in one of the studio suites. This suite again was clean and fully outfitted but quite a bit smaller that the one bedroom suite that we came from. If you’re just over - nighting it’s more than sufficient but if you are choosing to stay for several days or more you might find the studio suite too small.
The property grounds are well maintained and very clean with a nice patio area including barbecues and tables at the back of the property in a common area beachside. Lots of chairs, loungers, and umbrellas available for beach area. Beach is clean and access to the lake is easy.
The staff members were excellent. Sorry that we didn’t get their names but anyone that we interacted with was courteous, friendly and professional.
One thing that you might want to keep in mind is that there is no daily housekeeping provided. That was just fine for us but others may want this type of service.
This was a very good first stay at the Desert Surfside and we will certainly consider returning.
