We met an Australian traveling with ten others who said to us, "You're going to Hinton? Well, that was the best place we stopped because there is this really neat Beaver Boardwalk". now these people had traveled to quite a few places in the Canadian Rockies. The Boardwalk is 3 Km with a great chance to see beavers. The boardwalk was built by local volunteers, it was definitely worth visiting. I'd suggest early in the morning or maybe after dinner. The beavers were busy building while we were there.

Can see this at home, it is a nice place to go for a walk after dinner, but not a main attraction by any means

This boardwalk is huge! There is so much to see and learn along the boardwalk, that you could spend a full day there. The beavers have become somewhat accustomed to being watched, so they are usually easy to spot. The boardwalk was all built by one man's vision who still lives nearby. Some small sections of the boardwalk may be underwater due the the ever-changing water levels by the beavers, but they are easily detoured. Locals often come out to see the beavers feed on branches and bark in the evenings. There are a couple of lookout points to view the area from, and are great places for bird watchers and to view other wildlife. My kids especially enjoy pond-dipping along the way. Almost all of the boardwalk is wheelchair accessible. It may be hard to believe, but before this amazing transformation, this area was a swamp full of garbage.

The Beaver Boardwalk is one of the highlights of a visit to the Town of Hinton. It leads you through a beautiful wetland, with birds, fish, and beavers. A great spot on a warm Summer evening.

The Beaver Boardwalk is a great way to experience the wildlife in the Hinton/Jasper area. However, if you have anyone in your group who has difficulty with mobility I would not recommend this experience as the walkway is over water, and much of it has no hand rails making it easy to fall in. On the other hand this kind of adds to the experience if your up for the challenge.
